44. Establish Black firms and corporations, not just "businesses"
45. Understand that Blacks will not accept subpar service just because it's black-owned
46. Stop wearing your wealth around your neck or on your tires.
47. Try new food. For example, if sushi was so bad, would so many other people eat it? Everything doesn't have to be fried to a golden crisp.

48. Men -- Stop degrading women (rap artists).

49. Women -- Stop allowing yourself to be degraded (media/video chicks).

50. People -- Stop supporting artists that degrade the African American race.

What?! We could only get to 50? C'mon people, lol...

51. Support constructive black entertainment (eg. Tavis Smiley, "Madea's...) and turn off 106nPark, Hollyhood, and "Soul Plane". We must stop feeding into the stereotype.

MeezDiscreet 06-04-2007 01:38 PM

52. Practice good manners and not excuse bad manners as "that's how we do" or "I'm just keeping it real"

53.

When elected to ANY position (political, social, civic) make sure all Is are dotted and Ts crossed. When you are a SEASONED politician, ALWAYS remember that you are NOT one of them. THEY may be able to get away with certain things, but YOU my brother/sister CAN NOT! You may THINK you're in the "club", but when the chips fall, they will fall on your assETS!

54. Ditch the crabs in a bucket mentality.

55. Refrain from talking about people in the hood as "those people" or "those ghetto folks", or "those hood rats". Other people are listening to us and they think it's okay to repeat this.

56. Support HBCU's. Before we could get into "their" schools, HBCU's were the only place we could be educated.

57. Raise YOUR children!

58. Stop having babies if you cannot afford them financially or emotionally!

59. Be PROACTIVE about our own achievements and stop waiting for success to fall in our laps!

60. Mentor a youth!

Yay! I ended on an even number (slightly OCD)!:o

61. Know (and sometimes contact) your federal, state, and local government representatives.

62. Do whatever part you can to conserve natural resources. The world in which our grandkids will live is the one we leave them.

63. Stop blaming "The Man" for everything! He isn't always holding us back.

64. Continue our education and encourage our young ones to do the same.

65. Provide what is most important--a loving home for our children regardless of marital status. A two parent home can be very dysfunctional just as a single parent home can be very functional.

66. Consider adopting or foster parenting our kids who are in the "waiting kids system" in your state.

67. Practice deferred gratification until you can best afford the item.

We also need to...

68. Learn how to swim.

Too many of us don't know how and are afraid to learn.

TheGeneral 06-11-2007 10:48 PM

69. Learn another language
