I just saw this movie. Um, maybe I am blind, but I totally didn't understand a lot of it.

:(

I was a bit surprised about what happened at parts of the movie. But overall, it was pretty good. Much better than Dead Man's Chest. :)

wasn't just you... my friends and I were lost for most of the time. I've been telling everyone that's going to watch it to re-watch Dead Man's Chest first... cause I think that would've really helped me. but even if I had... the movie was still like an hour too long.

I saw the movie this morning and I really liked it. I didn't find the plot that hard to follow...I just got temporarily confused at some of the double, and triple, crossing.

I was satisfied with the ending, and I also hope they make a Pirates 4 with or without Keira and Orlando.

ASUADPi 05-27-2007 05:28 PM

So I saw it on Thursday. I really, really liked it. I didn't mind the time. To me it went pretty quickly. I've definately seen movies that are long like this one and I was thinking "OMG this is long". I wasn't think that at Pirates.

I was definately shocked by some of things that happened.

I thought the special effects were awesome. Plus, I really like the score. Hans Zimmer did a wonderful job on it.

I absolutely loved Johnny Depp! He cracks me up as Jack Sparrow. He really, IMPO, makes the movie. :D

Some of the characters that died, I was quite shocked that they did. I didn't see it coming. The end was also a bit of a surprise to me. Didn't see that coming at all.

i saw it friday, too much will and elizabeth, i wanted them to resolve the love triangle, not make a movie about it! and when it wasn't them it was barbosa, or the british...it was ALWAYS SOMEONE ELSE! not enough Jack Sparrow (oh! he's rescued, now what?) he plays such a miniscule role that you don't get to enjoy the comedy of the character.

there are so many side plots, and honestly the ending that they left open should be scrapped if they plan on making number four, get rid of the millions of characters and go back to Jack.

WTF was that whole new love angle (I saw it coming from DMC, but it was so...stupid, who's betraying who, who's trapping who in what form, who's doing what and WHY?? If you love someone why are you doing all this mess back and forth?! That whole plot was so entagled in itself that it couldn't progress, it made no sense.

the whirl pool was cool and all, but...this was the most unrealistic mess.

the ending was not idealistic for the two main characters, why would they put us through years of anxiousness and then leave them in such an awful state? it's not a fairy tale ending, and this is Disney we're talking about.

Basically, the day after, I almost forgot the entire thing, but I told everyone I knew to wait for the DVD and save money on per person viewing costs...this is not all that and they were trying WAY too hard to leave loose ends for the possibility of a 4th instead of making a solid movie.

ASUADPi 05-28-2007 09:18 AM

Although it may be a Disney movie, I don't think it could ever be a movie that has a "happily ever after". The whole plot (in general) surrounding it just doesn't really allow that to happen. IMPO.

While I definately agree some of what happened was over the top, the reality is that not everyone in life gets a happily ever after and I appreciate that they didn't make the movie end that way.

I agree that you didn't see enough Jack. He's the comedic portion of the movie and there could have definately been more of him.

SWTXBelle 05-28-2007 10:39 AM

I liked it better than DMC - but not enough Jack, and I felt some plot threads were kinda left hanging.
Loved Keith Richards.
Am glad Elizabeth and Will are doing their sort of happily ever after, so maybe next time we can just concentrate on Jack and Barbossa.

I found myself thinking (repeatedly): "This might possibly be the worst movie I have ever seen."

There was no reason for that movie to have been as long as it was.
The "plot" trodded along like a lame horse. Absolutely horrible.

If there is a fourth movie made it needs to be (at MOST) no more than an hour and 45 minutes.

ETA: Such a big to do was made about Keith Richards being in the film and that was all they gave him to do?!? Ugh.

Well if they do do a fourth movie, Orlando has no desire to do it and I'm not sure about Kiera. Johnny has been reported saying that he loves the character of Jack Sparrow and that he is willing to keep going. I'd be fine with another movie with more Jack. I hated how this one didn't have as much of him as the other ones did.

Ditto on the whole Keith Richards thing. Although, I have to say casting him as Jack's father was appropriate. The resemblance (thanks to makeup) was uncanny.

So I totally just figured out the song at the beginning of the movie is about Calypso. I own the soundtrack, so I figured it out this way. LOL

Question and I might be putting way to much thought it this (or I'm just thinking way to much Buffy) but how the heck can someone who is dead (well living dead, so to speak) create a child? That makes no sense to me. Someone care to comment.

Scandia 05-29-2007 06:24 PM

I really disliked this movie. The only part that was remotely good was the wedding scene- and that's because the choreography was good and because it made me laugh.

Otherwise, the movie is a big waste of time and money.

AznSAE 05-30-2007 10:56 AM

i keep hearing bad reviews about this one. i may just wait till it comes out at the dollar movie on 50 cent tuesdays.

neosoul 05-30-2007 01:55 PM

I'd give it a solid C+

ZTABullwinkle 05-31-2007 10:35 PM

I asked a little bit ago. Where is the website with the information that may help me figure out some background stories? I haven't been able to find it. :(

BuckeyeTriDelta 05-31-2007 10:46 PM

I actually liked this movie. I was worried with it being so long that I would get bored but surprisingly I was not bored.
