Today I actually went to one Starbucks, decided I didn't like the seating arrangements (because I was going to study with some friends), and drove across the street to the other one. Literally, directly across the street, about 40 yards from each other. And this is in River Oaks, one of the nicest parts of Houston, yet very close to some not so nice areas.

But my Starbucks experience today was not a great one. The hoity toity barista threw out a blind guy. Seriously, this was the most disturbing thing I've seen in a while. I don't know if this guy comes in to their store a lot or something, but this lady that works there asks him to leave. He starts yelling "Why is it that every time I come in here, you think I'm begging? This is bull$hit! Never mind, I don't want your coffee anyways! I'm sorry for ruining your little coffee shop!" And he goes out the door, and into the parking lot, and almost walks right into the street. He throws his cane into the street and a car runs it over.

So I'm watching in horror, and this guy runs out and pulls the guy away from the street, and stops traffic to go pick the guy's cane up. The guy walks the blind dude over to a table outside, and then gets some money from the guy and comes in and buys him a coffee. The guy talks to the lady that threw the guy out, so maybe she told him the whole story about this blind guy. And I did see this rich lady pull a $20 out and give it to the guy when he was still in the store. So I have no idea, maybe this blind dude does come in all the time and prey on the rich Starbucks drinkers. But his little scene sure did make that barista look like a cold, heartless bitch.

I live in a not-so-major city in eastern Washington and there are four Starbucks within a five minute drive of my apartment. Two of my good friends work at the closest one, so I wind up there a lot. In fact, I'm drinking a white chocolate frappachino right now. =)

In the Orlando area, Starbucks are EVERYWHERE. Damn things are sprouting up everywhere like dandelions.

Now they are engaging in hostile takeovers of other coffee shops. I just read that Starbucks is buying all of the Barnie's shops in the malls. Barnie's is WAY better than Starbucks. If they close the one on Park Ave. I'm going to lose my mind.

Umm....three of the ten in my vicinity are on campus...and NONE of them were there when I first started at State....

They're taking over!!!!!

There are 6 within 5 miles and 20 within 10 miles according to their website. I go to Starbucks during the holidays to get there special holiday blends, like the peppermint mocha, but rarely beyond that. Their coffee is generally too strong for me. However,if I do get a craving between times for it, several of the groceries stores around me sell it and I will just buy a package and brew my own at home.

There are only 2 in my entire city. I prefer the coffee drinks at Panera to Starbucks.

According to their website there are 24 within a 5 mile radius of my home. Good thing I don't go often, I'd be poor.

There are at least 10 within a 10 mile radius. But I have only been to the one at my university.

it drives me crazy!

anyone, there's a "starbucks on the square" (our campus Starbucks that takes our meal plans/campus cash) and within a 10-block radius, i can count... 5 or 6 locations?

funny, cause there are only a few in queens, and i never knew what a starbucks was before i went to college.

There is only one about 5 miles away, and then the next closest is probably about 150 to 200 miles from here.

The one in town only opened 3 weeks ago.

GEN Alum always whines that there are no Starbucks in Brussels when he gets back from a NATO trip. Poor baby, he's suffering in Belgium while I'm playing maid, chauffeur, single mom....
