I was really looking forward to watching this movie...
I was waiting the entire week for it, but I gotta admit, I am a little disappointed. There were alot of questions unanswered and I didn't appreciate them skipping through her life so quickly. For example, in one scene she was 6 years old, the next scene she was 16. I was like  ???? Her father (doesn't he seem a little like Ike Turner??? lol) disappeared for a few years (after the Ike-like breakdown over the music cds) and 'reappeared' when she got pregnant. Where was he during those high school years? Where were her brothers throughout most of the movie? There was one scene in the beginning with them, and they didn't show up again until the very end of the movie with the Idol audition. I also expected them to cover the issue of her 'illiteracy' a little more--maybe the last scene with her reading to her daughter would have been more meaningful.
I thought they could have did a lot more with the story, but maybe this is a way to get people to read her book (which I haven't yet). :p |
Ok, I'm watching the show, and it's got about 5 mins left. Now what I don't understand is where was the father all this time. Kadeem Hardison...aka...JoJo was a pure jackass. So did he leave the family?
Just so happens that Tasia is in the Parade magazine section from the Sunday Paper and she said that she and B, (this is what she calls Zion's father to the reporter) but she states that they aren't together, but he does have a relationship with her, and that is all that she ever wanted. Another thing is Debbie Allen had me falling out laughing as one of the contestants trying out....but something else. I was checking out the next time that this is coming on and it states Monday from 9pm-11:30pm...ummm what's with the additional 30 mins? |
yeah, everyone's favorite soror Debbie Allen had me laughing too

My husband and I watched it last night. Frankly, I forgot it was coming on but hubby hipped me because he watches more Lifetime than I do! I liked the movie overall.
|
I liked it too. Fantasia did great for someone with little acting lessons.
|
I liked the movie. She's an ok actress I guess. Anyone can play themselves! I wished it had more to it though. I also can't understand why she chose to hang out in the projects with the girls drinking 40's. She wasn't brought up that way. I should probably read her book.

I figured that all the pieces left out of the story were because she was trying not to put too much family business out there. I wonder if her ex suddenly wanted to be in the child's life after she became a star?
|
I remembered her mentioned if he did she would not let him but she would support him being with her daughter.
