What is the point?

My only question is, they actually spent money on these???
I mean what point are you proving? That's a lil igorant to me. If you feel a certain way, or you have a idea, the last thing you do is spend good chapter money for shirts, when NUPEs like me could care less. I just might laugh in your face! :p

As far as *I* am concerned, that is Ethel Hedgeman Lyle. :D I just ignore them and do *my* thing...but hey, that's just me. :)

Besides--what are you going to do? Rip their shirts off and demand a recant of their allegations? OR all of those opposed can chalk it up to undergrad acting-silly-ness and move on.

Like I said. I just wanted to get some ?'s answered. It's not about me being upset. You would have to address every last one of the greeks, masons, and OES's on our campus who have seen those shirts. I just wanted some info.

But like I said I take it personally when someone has something to say about me or my organization. This is not a whisper in the wind. Imagine 24 super-neos walking around campus every Thursday, pari-day, with those shirts on and the general public believing what the shirts said. It's like some disagreeable stranger walking around with a shirt that says "I'm SKEEphistAKAte's Mama!!!". Would you not be disturbed? If I walked around with a T-Shirt that said some horrendous lie, I know a lot of people would be upset, and that is this case.

I wouldn't give a rip. I know who my mother is. I would say "that person is an idiot and anybody who believes that that person is my mother is an idiot" and SKEE would keep it moving. The keeping it moving part is what you seem to be having difficulty with.

I'm not going to repeat everything I said in my last post that you obviously either didn't read or didn't comprehend. There is nothing you can do about someone else's claims. Period. The general public has all sorts of misconceptions and stereotypes about us and it is because WE, the D9 perpetuate them (in shirts, probate/coming out shows, step shows and our general dealings with each other on campus). And you know what Marquise, there is nothing you can do about that. Outsiders are still going to have misconeptions. Nobody is going to die because the general public was mislead by a t-shirt. It is not a "grave overstatement " it is a t-shirt. I think you're being overly sensitive. You disagree with the shirt, that is all, so what? Other people disagree with the shirt, that is all, so what?

Do most Alphas/AKAs consider themselves the father/mother of other D9 organizations? I think not. The people on your campus either seem to think so, or just felt like saying something to get sensitive people like you riled up (and you went for the okie doke). Either way, that is their opinion. And if the general public decides to accept that as fact, oh well. *shrugs shoulders*

God forbid you ever meet a neo Sigma...

Well, to answer your questions:

1. I've can't say I've never heard of these claims ("I am thy mother and thy father: I am Alpha Phi Alpha Kappa Alpha") but I wouldn't say that they are common.

2. Do they? Again, as long as you know your history, what do you think? ;)

I hope this helps. :)

I've met them all and I have no fear in addressing them all. Skee like I said and this will be the end of any comments directed to you. I wanted info on ?'s 1&2. So if you're not answering those then please make your post general and not directed toward me.

Also as a side note, let PBS discuss PBS, I'm not getting into that.

There's a lot of beef there. I won't touch it, but I know they are furious over those shirts too.

No need to keep me posted. I am grown, I can live without the scoop on immature undergrad "beef" over t-shirts and the like. I guess AKA2D is right, and undergrads have different priorities. I'm just glad that the undergrad life is such a cakewalk that folks have time, energy and resources to beef over t-shirts with analogies printed on them.

Yes, it must be if individuals find time to come up w/ such asinine T-shirts. :D But the beef I was referring to was the historical one between the two organizations and that is what tied into the productions of those t-shirts or at least that's what they say validates the claim to motherhood.

I agree and it is eqully ridiculous for people to waste additional time/energy/resources working on a comeback for something that is "asinine" in the first place. :D
