Yes, ignore the reviews and make your own decision. I am going to give it a great review when I write it up later today.

Umm at Cannes there were all sorts of reviews for it saying it was not only too long but too convoluted and boring. That doesn't mean it's intellectual. The people that gave it good reviews talked about how you'd like it if you liked bloated large hollywood movies.

Even critics that work for crappy locations gave it bad reviews.

It has a 19% on Rotten Tomatoes right now.

Wow - I'll definitely see it anyway, because I enjoyed the book, but some brutal reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

I don't like every movie. I've panned most I've seen in the past 6 months.

I loved this book. I had high hopes for the movie. I was worried yesterday when reports from Cannes started filtering in as I was set to see a media screening here in LA last night.

I enjoyed it. Was it perfect, no. Was is interesting, yes. Was it faithful to the book? yes.

But it was 1/2 an hour too long.

Many of the critics I have heard/read have said that is the problem -- it is slavishly faithful to the book as though afraid to risk offending the book's fans. It's rare that a book translates directly to a movie -- usually some liberties have to be taken because of the differences in the ways stories are told in books and movies.

I'll probably see it at some point, but ever since hearing that Tom Hanks (who I think is a great actor but not right for every part) was cast as Langdon, I've had very low expectations.

You probably think all those Ernest movies should win Oscars.

I'm interested to see how he is, because I've had problems with that casting decision as well (which I think I mentioned earlier in the thread).

Liam Neeson would have made a perfect Langdon.

I will argue for the Weekend at Bernies movies.

It really annoys me when people try and make the Da Vinci Code such a huge issue. Its a murder mystery which happens to include some religious components. It's not a "fictional religious books" and certainly not meant to "enlighten" anyone.

Some people I swear! Its a friggin book/movie! Get a life!

I honestly thought this was the worst movie I've ever seen.

I saw it last night.

I hadn't read the book, though I own it.

I liked it.

Was it my favorite movie in the world? No.

Do I think Tom Hanks was wrong for the role? Yes, though he did better than I expected.

I looked at my friend during the movie and said "He just can't help it...he's 'Tom Hanks' in every movie."

Although stuff happens in it....there's not a whole lot of "action" which I guess I expected.

Also, too much of the movie is too "perfect"....I groaned a few times because things happened too neatly.
