How was this book? He is a professor a CAL, and I saw him in an interview. I thought his initial points were valid, although his solutions were trite and didn't lend themselves to practical deployment, which is the critical component necessary to sell his proposition. All, Has anyone used www.blackexpressions.com? What are some other good general book clubs to join, if any? I have more time to read fiction now, and want to take advantage! |

Shelacious,
Blackexpressions is pretty decent..though there are times that they take a while sending the books that you order. That is a rare occurrence though. You should join, they have a pretty good membership special going..some of the books are reasonable. |
I just finished The Wind Done Gone.

I'm currently reading, "Any Way The Wind Blows." I can't read this book fast enough. I can't wait to see how it ends.

I know how you feel, I stayed up late to finish the book. ( If only I was the same way for my readings for class ) I can't believe Ava! |
What are you reading?
I'm not really reading anything right now that's not school related, but I've read:
1. The Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah 2. Mama by Terry McMillan 3. Disappearing Acts by Terry McMillan 4. Jonah's Gourd Vine by Zora Neale Hurston 5. Mules and Men by Zora Neale Hurston 6. Their Eyes Are Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston (I'll be reading it again for one of my classes) 7. I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou 8. Gather Together in My Name by Maya Angelou 9. Singin' and Swingin' and Gettin' Merry like Christmas by Maya Angelou That's all for now. Just to let you know, if you haven't read any of these books, definitely do so. They're all good. ;) |

Sorority Sisters
I just finished Sorority Sisters. It was ok, I'll recommend for a young lady entering college, but it was a little juvenile for me.

I too find it interesting that there is this upspring of sorority books. This book could have simply been about 4 close friends from college but I guess when you throw in that sorority angle, you add an additional angle into your consumer market. Had I known, it would have been a library check out. I am glad I am not the only one who felt this way. I have included the link to some new books that are out that I posted in DST forum if anyone is interested in new reads: http://www.greeksource.com/gcforums/...threadid=11349 |
