Definetely gotta agree with you on healthy weightloss. When I was younger my best friends mom dropped from like 330 to like 140 in literally, no more than a few months (she was taking some sort of pills and was pretty close to starving herself). She could fit into a size 12, but good lord, her body just looked TERRIBLE! Now I know when you lose that much weight period, your skin will sag. But this was just beyyyonnddd what it shouldve been. No muscle, no form, no nothing. Just skin. Even her face was awful!

While losing mass amounts of weight rapidly may be bad for your health, I'd be willing to bet that being obese is far worse for overall health. People who have their stomachs reduced lose TONS of weight all at once and are better off for it (even though they're left with lots of extra skin, which is just a result of them stretching it out with their excess weight gain). |

You are definately right. It is much easier for obese people to lose more weight a week than others. |

I think we just need to remember that the weight took a long time to pile on, so it's just not going to "fall off", despite working hard! |

I think i stand to lose a little weight (around 20 lbs...i'm 135). But to me, 3-5 lbs a week is A LOT...maybe i'm wrong though. |

how tall are you? the more obese you are, the easier it is to lose 3-5 lbs a week. The less obese you are, the harder it is. But even then, losing 3-5 lbs a week if you aren't obese is unhealthy and not recommended. But if you are a tub of lard like these kids, and you can't lose 3 lbs then they are doing something wrong. |

Its a bummer though cause before I entered high school I was around 120...which was pretty good...and then by the end of high school I had ballooned up to 140, and now i'm back to 135. Eventually i'd like to get to 110-120, but i'm kinda working my way there...hopefully by June, i'll have my "beach body." lol. But it is serious hard for me to keep the weight off, and I guess being a fast food addict doesn't help..lol. |
I am so there with you!!! Lol...although I'd kill to be 135;) Plus, I just got my braces on, so basically all I've been eating lately has been smoothies, shakes and mashed potatoes, all great, healthy foods right?;)

You guys need to keep in mind that it's not just about WEIGHT loss. This is one thing I really hated on Biggest Loser and Celebrity Fit Club. Everyone knows that muscle weights more than fat so they should be doing measurements instead of actual weight to see who is successful. One time I gained 10 lbs but I lost a few inches. That really annoys me.

You're kind of right, but kind of for the wrong reasons . . . yes, especially for people who are over 25-30% body fat, BMI (and physical measurements) are probably more accurate than strict weight measurements. However, especially for people without an extensive workout history and/or are not lifting extensive weights, you should lose weight in the form of fat faster than you gain it in the form of muscle (especially early). |

Anyone know when this show is coming back on again?? For whatever reason, I kept ONLY catching the second 1/2! Doesn't you hate it when that happens?!!
