washrinserepeat, check your PM box ;)

Your daughter should be thankful that she got at least 1 bid. Some girls are cut by all of the sororities after the first round. Sorry I read your story late.

I wish your daughter luck. Tell her to be strong.

Update!

I just got a phone call from my daughter and she was sobbing.

I was so worried, turns out that she had just gotten her invite to the pref party of her dreams and she was crying with JOY!!!!!!!!!
She is so emotional right now, and, of course, so am I! She is so excited- turns out one of her good friends is also going to the same party, though that girl has one other one to go to. They are going to help each other get ready- the party is this afternoon, but I think she is already starting to prepare!
Side note- Rushee #2 is really regretting her decision to drop out. Quota is rumored to be smaller this year, so there will probably not be too many sororities, if any, participating in any kind of informal rush if they even have it at their school. I am so glad she stuck it out- I feel she has found her home, just hope it works out!

Congratulations to your daughter! I hope the pref party confirms her hopes and dreams and that after all is said and done, she matches to that sorority. You'll have to let us know tommorow if she is a new member and of what GLO!

I am keeping her in my thoughts. I hope she knows how much we all are wishing her the best.

OK, in spite of the not so normal cynical mood I'm in today, I just got really excited about this thread. I hope she has a wonderful time at Pref, and I hope she gets to run to her sisters on Bid Day!

Pref Update

Just got a call after she left the pref party. She is on such a high, I don't know how she could love these girls any more that she does at this point. She was really moved by the solemnity and specialness of the party. I do not think she had any idea how emotional pref parties can be. When I was an undergrad PiPhi I cried at every pref party for 4 years, so she probably gets it from me! Anyway, they have a lock-in until midnight, pizza and pjs with all the PNMs, she has made so many friends this week that even if she does not match, she feels so much more at home at the school than she did first semester.
On a side note, I am glad Survivor starts this week, I need a new diversion!

MTSUGURL 01-28-2006 06:45 PM

My first semester at Union I preffed ZTA, and I remember getting all teary eyed and emotional... The party was at one of the member's houses that was absolutely beautiful with the huge spiral staircase. I was friends with the girl that preffed me the whole time I was at that school. I never signed my pref card for other reasons, but it was definitely beautiful and a night that made me glad to have rushed.

So glad she loved the party, and I really hope that she gets a bid!
