well, i am tired of self-absorbed(or is it self-promoting) "celebrities" sharing their opinions.around their own dinner table, okay; in the public forum, no.

tom cruise an expert on postpartum depression? natalie maines an expert on the military and our government? puh-lease!! if they would just do what they do best(acting, the former, and music, the latter) they (and we) would be a lot better off.

i would rather rely on an expert in the field than an actor or a dixie chick.

Ditto NutBrnHair! I fully agree with you, FSUZeta...well said.

Why can't they say what they want in their own concerts? I say, be more vocal, be out there and be as loud as you wanna be. DAMN THE MAN.

FSUZeta 05-27-2006 10:27 AM

because they are being paid to perform, not prosletize(sp?)

If you don't like it, leave. I go to a concert expecting there to be some interaction with the audience, not just a performance. Most performers tell stories at concerts, both in and about their music and about their lives.

Anybody has the freedom to say whatever they want, whenever they want. If celebrities have the platform to speak out and reach a wider audience, so be it. I don't like the things that Rush Limbaugh says, but hey, that's his right. I think Tom Cruise is an idiot, but hey, it's his right to amuse me.

(Also, Natalie Maynes never said she was an "expert" on anything. She states her opinion, along with some facts she's picked up.)

Then don't go to their concerts. I have no problem entertainer speaking their mind. you'd probably be miserable going to a Pearl Jam show.

FSUZeta 05-27-2006 05:09 PM

i would not go to their concerts. my point is, if i am paying upwards of $100 to attend a musical concert, i want to hear music!

and moron, don't make assumptions which you can not confirm.

NutBrnHair 05-27-2006 05:36 PM

I love what my friend's elderly mother said about the Dixie Chicks:

"Well, they're stupid! I'm mean, just look at them!!!"

It's a very simple concept which even I, as a moron, would understand. If you don't like it, don't go to the concert. If you went to the concert and you didn't like what they said, leave. I know it's an interesting concept for some people, but it's a pretty simple concept for other.

If you're paying that much, you paid too much. My Toby Keith FLOOR seats weren't even $100.

Jill1228 05-28-2006 10:51 PM

Ditto!
And right now I am cranking their CD in my car! :)

And we're all allowed to say it-whether we're in America, London, Guam, whatever!!

Sure it did. You don't hear them on country radio anymore...well, with the exception of those lame internet radio stations on shoutcast. Luckily I dont have to worry about flipping channels in my car though.

Tippiechick 05-29-2006 08:06 PM

As always, I support women who have the balls to say what they think regardless of what other people might think. I love their music. And, even if I didn't agree with Natalie that I am ashamed of Bush, I would still buy their music.

The end.

YOU might not hear them on country radio, my dear. Don't generalize. I live near Nashville and still hear plenty of their music.
