But since you asked, one (and I'm stressing that this is only ONE, not all) example that I can think of that happened recently are the responses to many new people in the rush forum. It seems to me that using profanities when people are asking questions about rush could be perceived as offensive to some. Personally I didn't report the members who seemed to be constantly making these types of posts, I just stated my opinion and stopped reading them. ETA: the problem, in my mind, is that it seems from an outside perspective that random people can just report things because it annoys them and a thread (evidently) will get deleted if the poster isn't on friendly terms with the mod in that forum. I'm not trying to be argumentative at all, just telling you how I see it. :) |

But then I would guess that some mods probably don't take some people's reports as seriously. Like if a person reports a post, but then they're pretty well known for posting inappropriate stuff themselves, you kind of have to take it with a grain of salt. I have to say, glad I only have the KD and Events forum. |
Right -- but why are you asking the "mods to play fair and delete or don't delete people using the same standards across the board" if they haven't been unfair or applying non-uniform standards?
|
And welcome everyone to yet another GC arguement that will only go around and around in circles because there IS no way to please everyone.

1. You're saying that the mods have been applying non-uniform standards in your mind. 2. I'm asking for evidence to support your assertion, in the form of posts and requests you made to have action taken on those posts. Without showing that you reported posts and the mods did nothing, I don't see how you're supporting your assertion that the mods have been applying non-uniform standards. You can't compare posts that have been reported with posts that haven't been reported. |

I will admit, I didn't read the thread, just the posts about it. I rarely read the Random Thread, either - but I decided against reading things that have a potential of driving me crazy! |

This is why the "apply the standards across the board" statement was made. Well, I think we've successfully beat this dead horse...LOL :p |

Although I think it's fairly standard that if a mod receives more than a couple "report this post"s on any given thread, it'll be deleted. I guess I'm not sure what the big deal is, since, as there are only three of you chatting, it would be just as easy and probably more productive to get on AIM. While the thread didn't really annoy me (it was easy enough for me not to read it), by starting it up again after it was deleted multiple times, it makes it pretty clear that at least one of you was doing it purposely to annoy other posters. If it would be just as easy for y'all to have this conversation on AIM, ask yourself why it's such a big deal that you NEED to have it on GC. If there's a better reason than "We like to annoy the rest of the posters," I'd love to hear it. And if there's not, then . . . uh, why are you arguing? |
I don't think any of them were started for the purpose of annoying other posters. They were started over and over again out of the frustration that they kept being deleted.
And I don't know about cash or otter, but I don't have AIM at work. The nice thing about GC is that you can come and go when you have time. I can't sit on AIM at work. But I can post on GC when I have time. I think there is really no comparison for GC and AIM. Completely different. Besides, why not take everyone in the random thread and say, "Just have this conversation on AIM." It's not reasonable. And there is no reason why we should have to do that. |
