I am not rooting for OSU this weekend.

lol I am not rooting for either and at the same time I'm rooting for both since USC will probably face either OSU or UT in the Rose Bowl. (assuming we all win out, of course)

AOIIalum 09-08-2005 04:19 PM

I don't care who wins or loses the OSU-Texas game. I just want them all off campus by 8am Sunday morning!

UM I THINK YOU MEANT TO SAY USC WILL BE FACING IOWA IN THE ROSE BOWL IF USC MANAGES TO MAKE IT THAT FAR.

Yo y'all better recognize.

In other news, I'm confused by all the bowls. I thought it was the Orange Bowl? I have no idea.

Fiesta, Sugar, Orange and Rose bowl are all part of the BCS.

Each year one of those 4 bowls host the national championship game. They rotate.

Year - Bowl- Winner - Conference the team represented

99- Fiesta Tennessee; SEC
00- Sugar FSU ; ACC
01- Orange Oklahoma; Big 12
02- Rose Miami ; then Big East
03- Fiesta Ohio State; Big 10/11

04- Sugar LSU; SEC...HOWEVER USC would have f*ckin romped on LSU had USC would have gotten to play in that goddamn game. A team finishes first in both polls but don't get to play in the NC game. System wasn't perfect, never was perfect and never will be perfect. btw. USC would have bitch slapped Oklahoma too. USC just had to wait another year to bitch slap Oklahoma I guess. ofcourse I am biased =)

05-Orange USC; Pac 10 * would have gladly laid the smack down on Auburn too the way they did the two previous years. maybe I'm a little biased. =)

06- now will be the Rose Bowl

6 conference powers. SEC, Big 12, Big 10 or Big 11, ACC, Big East and Pac 10.

Each conference champion gets an automatic bid to go to a BCS game.

Historically, as you know Rose Bowl did the Pac 10 vs Big 10.

Fiesta did the Big 12 champ

Sugar did the SEC Champ

Orange did the Big East or ACC champ? I'm not sure on that one.

RC's picks:

-OSU over TU -> OSU's tough at home, and Mack Brown never beats anybody.

-Michigan over ND -> I don't think ND has the horses to stop UM on D, and the Big House will be rocking

-ASU over LSU - ASU's traditionally VERY tough at home, especially due to the time differences (I think this is a 7:05 kickoff) . . . LSU's got other things on their mind, look for this to be a letdown game before they run off another huge season.

-Iowa over ISU - watch the line on this one, though . . . there's been heavy action on Iowa, if the line gets over -10(UI) take the under. Iowa wins this game, but it'll be tight . . . ISU plays tough in the Wind Tunnel, and this is the only game their fans really care about.

I think I told you this before but I think this years Rose Bowl will be between USC and a big 10 team (Iowa, OSU or Michigan).

3 big horses in the big 10 (UM, OSU and Iowa)and 1 horse who thinks they are a big horse but really are not that big of a horse (Purdue).

Iowa- UM and OSU gets all the hype and Iowa doesn't get enough respect. Perhaps the talent level isn't as high, but I don't think anyone shuold overlook Iowa. ANYONE.

Purdue- imo is overrated and replacing Ortan will be tough. Unless they get some stud replace ala Leinart replacing Palmer...they shuoldn't be considered in the same breath as UM, OSU and Iowa. HOwever, their schedule is in their favor not playing UM or OSU. Having Iowa at Home is definately a plus for them, but I really think Iowa will make like Tony Danza and show Purdue Who's the Boss.

Big 12-

I don't think even think Texas will win the Big 12 this year! Call me crazy but I think Texas A&M will. I don't think they beat Oklahoma neither! At the end of the year Brown won't be considered the Mac no more. Peace out biotch!

Oklahoma will lose to fUCLA!

Pac 10-

Obviously I think USC wins. But it will be tough especiall playing Oregon early on. They also play @ Cal. And we all know what happened last time the Trojans played up in Cal. I think USC prevails however. NOtre Dame and UCLA will be tough rivalry games but USCs talent shuold prevail.

The biggest thing going against USC is complacency and injuries! =(

I think Arizona State loses only1 game and plays in their own stadium in the Fiesta Bowl.

SEC is overrated this year and whatever BCS game they make it in, I believe they will lose unless they play someone from the Big East. Well maybe Louisville could beat an SEC team in the BCS, but..I don't think so!

If OSU loses to Texas, there is absolutely no chance that Iowa plays in a BCS game this year unless they are the undisputed Big 10 champion. If, however, OSU beats Texas, then even a loss to OSU (and thus 2nd in the big 10) should be enough to maintain top-6 status and an at-large berth in the BCS.

There is no feasible scenario that results in a big10 team playing for the national championship unless OSU beats TU and Michigan beats ND.

If you're a Hawk fan, you MUSTMUSTMUST root for UM and OSU in all of their non-conference games. It's not just 'conference pride' - it's football common sense. Suck it up.

No doubt about it. Whichever conference you cheer for, you MUST cheer for your conference foes to win their non conference games. It benefits you and your conference.

God I love college football!!!!

I know it makes logical sense to cheer for OSU but I CANNOT.

Even I am happy to see Cal and UCLA and Oregon etc win EVERY GAME that is not against USC. ;)

Unless you actually live in Iowa (especially the east side of the state) and then you get Hawkeye bs shoved down your throat until you want to gag (if you're not a Hawkeye fan, that is. If you are a Hawk fan, you think there needs to be even more media coverage about the team and you name your sons Hayden and Kinnick.)

We care about other games. Kind of.

The1calledTKE 09-08-2005 07:16 PM

SEC football is never overrated. ;) To bad USC doesn't play teams like Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, or LSU. The do play Arkansas but they are push overs so USC should cream them.

You live about 30 minutes from Kinnick. I can't imagine how you would expect anything else . . . for what it's worth, the Register goes out of its way to get up on ISU, for no apparent reason . . . as do the Des Moines TV broadcasters. Stop whining.

Oh really? Is that why season ticket packages were $99 last season (the 'big game' was at Kinnick)?

-RC
--i love it i love it i love it
---Valkyrie don't talk about it, be about it - and Iowa will not win the Big 10, they have the toughest possible schedule . . . At OSU, P-Due, and Badgertown in Alvarez's last game. Sorry, be realistic, root for fucking OSU.

Season tickets for ISU games were $99? I don't think so.

For Letterwinners Club members, season tickets are $195; for general public they're $220. That's only $60 less than season tickets for the Hawks. They've been about that the last few years.

I can whine all I want, I still let my husband go to Iowa football games. I'm not even forcing him to go to Iowa State's homecoming so he can go to the Iowa/Michigan game.

:p Well, I shouldn't have said they are overrated. I do believe however that this is a down year for them. Why? Too many good teams (as usual), but no great teams. Everyone will simply just beat up on each other (the way how every other conference beats up on each other). I guess the one team that I do believe that is overrated is Tennessee. I think Florida is the best team in the conference but they are punished since they are the only team in the conference with balls in facing a pretty tough non conference schedule (miami and fsu). All other SEC teams usually schedule pancakes (at home) and it is very rare to see them return the favor in a home and home game.

While my alliance is with the Pac 10, the SEC is my second favorite conference to watch. Not because I believe the quality of play is better but because the fans are the craziest fans bar none. The only crazier fans I can think of are mexican soccer fans who pee on american players, or british hooligans. Did I mention that Ole Miss is my favorite outside of USC. :)

My next question for all of you. Who do you think the best conference is?

I think top to bottom it is the Big 10. However, the ACC's top four I would put up against anyone.
