Am going with the sentimental pick of cheering for the Pens in the playoffs. My first real hockey exposure was obtained when we moved to Pittsburgh, so without the Penguins I wouldn't be the CBJ fan I am today.
Is it next season yet? :D |
The broadcasting is gonna be interesting. Don Cherry will be making his US Broadcasting debut
Be afraid...be very afraid :D http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...tion=si_latest NEW YORK (AP) -- Don Cherry is bringing his loud mouth and louder outfits south of the border. The outspoken former coach of the Boston Bruins, who has been a fixture on CBC's Hockey Night In Canada telecasts for more than 25 years, will make his U.S. broadcasting debut as part of NBC's Stanley Cup playoff telecasts, the network announced Tuesday. "A lot of people have written that what I say up here I would never get away with it down in the States," said Cherry, the Bruins' coach from the 1974-75 season until the 1978-79 campaign. "I'll just go on and do what I have to do. "In the States, they wanted me to go on one time in Pittsburgh. Jaromir Jagr, it was when he had long hair and he was with Mario Lemieux and I said, 'There's Mario and his daughter.' It didn't go over too good. That was my last time in the States." Cherry will be teamed with Brett Hull, the never-shy former player who is in his first season with NBC. "Better get some plaids," Cherry said. Hull will also to contribute to CBC's coverage in Canada. "He tells it like it is," Hull said of Cherry. "If they did it on a regular basis, he would be just as popular down here as he is up there. Part of the thing that's missing, not with just hockey, but in all coverage in the American sports world, is some personality. I think that's why you see a guy like Terry Bradshaw, as popular as he is. "He's not just Mr. P.C., going, 'That was a nice catch and throw."' http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2007/hockey/nh...erry_getty.jpg The dude has some scary outfits |

You'd think after all these years of watching HNIC my eyes would adjust... but no, this outfit is making me nauseas... Or maybe I'm just exhausted considering how long last night's game between Vanc and Dallas lasted - I passed out sometime during the THIRD overtime... |
I'm glad Sunday's overtime only lasted 7 minutes - thank you Taylor Pyatt. It sucks that tonight's game starts at 5 PM PST - I'll just be getting in the door... but that means an earlier finish, one would think...

Calgary who? I am worried about the series now that it is in the Saddledome. The flames have looked like fools in the first two games but they will come out strong tonight.

The answer to that, of course, is anyone and everyone who has been supporting the Columbus Blue Jackets franchise since day one. And then some. Target: Next Year! |

Reports out of Canada and Columbus that Blue Jackets President and GM Doug McLean is G-O-N-E!!!!!! I am truly Tickled Pink by management's decision and am ready to see my team move forward.
But I am a bit sad because we can see directly into GMDM's box from our seats in Nationwide. Trust me when I say that was worth the price of admission some nights. :p |
Hahahahahaha that is so awesome. Any news on who will replace him?
ETA: Columbus radio said no one has been mentioned yet... |
