-Calling for a person's ban based a few posts they made is like George W. Bush walking around with his finger up his ass. Its not gonna happen. :)

Me too, considering I agreed with all of carnation's post and I think you can rightfully say that I'm one of the least Republican posters on GC.

For the record, my non-Greek friends were fascinated by my dolphin-shaped Tri Delta paddle, and on more than one drunken occasion they would bring that thing out and pose for pictures pretending to smack each other with it. Was there ANY sorority hazing going on in those pictures? No. Were there even any sorority members in them? No. Did it look like there was? Sure.

I am not responsible for what happens across the Greek system. I am responsible for what happened in my chapter.

And now I'm off to tan, because it's way too nice to spend this day in front of the computer.

Rudey 08-01-2005 01:51 PM

Regardless of whether it happened or it didn't happen, boy were they stupid to joke about it and then take pictures of it and then let it get into the hands of someone that published them.

Six degrees of George W. Bush:

website contain paddling
paddling has to do with paddles
paddles is part of sorority legacy
sorority is part of the greeklife
fraternity is part of the greek life
George W. Bush is a member os a fraternity

Ergo, this thread have something to do with GWB

But dear sisterhavana, those are oars, not paddles ;) Paddling is something we do to warm up, not putting any pressure on the oars..after all, putting pressure on would be hazing ;)

But I believe that is Syracuse's womens 8+...and they are indeed quite good!

For real. And my aqua-colored shirt wouldn't have come out of the wash with red spots on it even though I didn't wash it with anything red.

Thankfully, Howard Dean's Shout stain remover got them out. :D

Exactly - he's responsible for every problem, from the founding of the United States to the present day.

Today I'm blaming him for the microwave not working in the staff kitchen.

moe.ron 08-01-2005 02:35 PM

too long, can you condensed it to two to three sentences?

moe.ron 08-01-2005 02:43 PM

Thanks. So, will you be able to condensed it to 2 to 3 sentences?

moe.ron 08-01-2005 02:47 PM

Humor me with your superior knowledge.

Actually, since no one posting was apparently able to understand that I'm speaking conceptually to the abuse of power, I'll walk you through it.

One, right wing power in any guise or form is grotesque, and its legitimacy should be questioned because it's almost always going to be unjustifiable. The more right wing the power structures in this country have become have only been able to do so by hoodwinking the populace into believing in a reality that simply doesn't exist. This is done through media and institutional indoctrination. People who are brainwashed obviously are unaware that they are, and will fight vehemently and attack anyone who makes such a claim. The so called dems are just as guilty of this as repugs, but the repugs are much more blatant and will deny the obvious even when it's staring them in the face, hence my earlier remark about "spoken like a true republican," because that particular poster made the claim that the pictures are staged and faked when even a cursory glance reveals that it's highly implausible that so many people would or could so effectively "stage" scenario's of paddling. But that truth is too much for that person to contemplate, so naturally they deny it altogether.
Others make the claim that since they're having fun or at a party that that alone invalidates any true hazing. Notice how the question is now put, "whether it's real or not..." The members of a herd instinctively flock together.
Would there be "world peace" if this admin hadn't stolen two elections? No. Imperialism and the institutional role of corporate power knows no party affiliation. Look at it like a "pro" wrestling match; it's a rigged game. They were planning regime change and imperial expansion, and of course, the events of 9/11(needed to bolster public support for war, research the Project For A New American Century)for many years, and put on a weak show with Gore not demanding a state wide recount, and allowing old Reagan/Bush appointees on the supreme court to ensure right wing control for expansion of power and war profiteering. Your govt cares nothing about "liberty" and "freedom", for every govt has one first and foremost enemy: it's own population. Luckily we do have some rights left in this country....for now. Until the next phase, that is. You just watch. The fascism of a police state, or rather, a "national security statem," has been implemented by incriments, you can't do it all at once, the people would revolt. So you step it up bit by bit and create a never ending, elusive "enemy" to properly motivate the people in their favor through fear. And yes, actually, at it's core, the way any power structure operates has something to do with hazing, and why a society has the values it does.

This of course is a bit off topic, but since there were people who missed the point....and the denial is the same; here's pictures of girls paddling, yet still denied by many as a staged hoax. It's no different than how people are so duped into believing their govt is "good" by lying and setting into action events that result, so far, in hundreds of thousands of innocent people murdered.

But hey....they're the GOOD guys, right!?

Deny and flame on, sheeple....

It's pictures of GIRLS paddling.............It's not pictures (from what I can tell by the posts of the people here) of sorority women and fraternity men paddling their pledges.

Take the pictures to the SOURCE(S) and change their actions if you are hoping to get some action. If they aren't groups that we are involved in (or even know) what are we supposed to do???

This is not a political/ideological activism site as you seem to think.

And you call us brainwashed? Mmmmm hmmmmmm.....

Something tells me you're really probably not in college (possibly not even female) because no girl I know in college who is potentially thinking of joining a sorority would even subscribe to that kind of bs. Not because she isn't smart enough to understand it, but because she's too smart to fall for it.

Puhleaze.

[anyone else have the image in their head of the girl from Can't Hardly Wait who's cutting up the plastic rings from the 6-packs and waving her scissors around while she calls everyone Sheep? 'Cause that's what I'm seeing right now]
