..............

im not sure if you lurked on these and other boards before you posted. if you did then you would have figured out that any discussion of membership and stereotypes associated with membership would be frowned upon.

i dont see why you would have been bothered by such comments. its really childish and silly. take another look at the national websites. black sorority women come in all shapes, sizes, cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds AND personal experiences. it is that which i think, brings them together. it is their love for their respective organization that keeps them devoted.

by bringing such a question to a board like this gives an impression that you are perhaps are not serious and are indeed one of these silly little girls that thinks membership to a black sorority is all about appearance.

devote your time more to discussions with members about what brought them to Delta Sigma Theta and what keeps them devoted to their organization. work on your personal/academic goals. you will be so focused on those things that pointless conversations will not be in your radar and mental rolodex.

Someone said something the other day that really rubbed me the wrong way, that's why I posted this message. I wanted to see how other people replied to these type of comments.

Oh, wow...

I feel like my GC NPHC D4's Sorority sisters...

Now that was discreet...

Question 2 for unfaltering:

So are you behaving in a manner appropriate for the prospective sorority you wish to think you can be extended membership into?

Others are watching you from afar and KNOW your interest although you have left it "maybe" unsaid, since it got erased...

Wait! How Come this is in the Alpha thread?

Well, I don't feel as though I have done or said anything disrespectful to anyone despite the fact that this post has been misconstrued and turned into something ugly. I do not now, nor have I ever, believed that membership into ANY organization was all about looking the part. How I "behave" on GC has nothing to do with real life. I always conduct myself as a lady. I respect myself and those around me. Not because I want to join some organization but because that's who I am. As far as asking others why they chose such and such organization - what for? Why they decided to do whatever has nothing to do with me. I know why I made the decision I made and it has nothing to do with looking, talking, walking or anything else crazy like that.

If you mean other GC members they may well be watching but that's fine with me, I have nothing to hide. As far as my interest being known, that's also fine with me. I was under the impression that this was a safe place to express your interest since just about everyone is faceless.

Wait! How Come this is in the Alpha thread?

Come on now. Stop. Think about it. Since when is it a rule that you have to limit yourself to posting in just one thread?

It was a simple question folks. Nothing more. To anyone who read more into it, well...that's not my problem. But I'll deal with it because like ladygreek said, "every now and again we need to be entertained";)

I agree - this is entertainment at it finest. Besides, this thread may lead folk to read some of the more thought provoking threads.

Also, good luck seeking membership to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. I have a feeling you may need the support.

WTF does THIS mean?

Professor 08-02-2005 11:18 AM

She wants to be a Delta and considering her posts, i'm sure she will need some guidance gaining membership. This was not written in ill will to Delta.

Wait, do you seriously believe that what you write in GC, which is a reflection of your treatment and behavior toward other NPHC organizations, is left unseen by numerous members, many of them the remain observers and choose to not post from the prospective sorority you are interested in having an invitation of membership extended to you?

Just asking...

I have yet to care why you made your choice. That is your choice and you need to pursue it "appropriately". You have failed to define "looking the part". What does that mean? Most of us are unable to give you a response to the answers you seek because, we may be thinking "how one holds themselves in public, etc." If that means anything to anyone, then, YES, you DO have to look the part for ANY ONE of the D4 Sororities, publically and on the internet...

What is "safe" and everyone being "faceless"? I have met numerous members from GC in public settings.

Good luck with that thinking...

Oh yeah, this is getting entertaining... Not because of what Ladygreek said, but by how you are speaking to me and the fact I am able to provoke your anger...

The reason why you do not ask that question anywhere when you have indicated your interest anywhere on the internet: Due deference. Proper nettiquite. Whatever!!! You just do not willy nilly post things, say how hurt you are by them and think you will get a fair response by everyone. Defend your ideas!!!

Hey, various members of each organization posts in others threads because they KNOW the ettiquite of how to regard one another.

You posting in the Alpha thread about how others think what "sorority you look like" and you want to become a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc....

That is rather tacky... And silly if you ask me... But hey, what do I know... Besides, I would think you have disrespected the Ladies of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. with comments such like this... But it depends on how they response accordingly... And from my summation, they are telling you to stop!

I would refrain from messing with CrimsonTide4, Ladygreek, Meezdiscreet or Kim122--I know many of them have connections to their International HQ... Besides, there are some neophytes that know alot also... You are lucky DSTChaos is not here yet...

And YES, you DO have to LOOK the PART!!! Especially since you made your interest known!!!

If people say I look like an Alpha (as in Alpha Phi Alpha) then I just give them a  look because it is obvious that I am a female. If they say I look like a Delta (as in Delta Sigma Theta), then I say 'Thank you, but no. I am a member of Sigma Gamma Rho.' But, mostly people say I look like one of my aunts, who is a Zeta Phi Beta. But then, for those people who have seen me and my mother together, they definitely say I look like my mom, who is also a Sigma Gamma Rho.
