Hey, I know recruitment is very busy, but (she types selfishly) can you type a little something everyday. I love to read the day to day stuff better then the "wrap" up all in one entry, thing.

I mean like, "I went to banana today and their house was cool and the girls seemed like fun", kind of stuff.

This information helps me with my "recruitment thread" addiction, without giving me an overdose.

Oh yea

HAVE FUN.

For sure! I like the threads that do day-by-day updates better...it adds a little more suspense to everything. Recruitment thread addicts, there is nothing to fear!:D

Just to add, my recruitment is right around the same time as KiwiJuice08's recruitment! So everyone will definitely be getting a good dose of recruitment stories.:D

I went shopping yesterday and bought a dress for pref!! It's very cute and I'm so so so so looking forward to rush.

Since people have been asking, my recruitment is during the second week of September. Although I'm looking forward to it, I'm kind of anxious about it too-- I keep having weird dreams about joining different sororities!

It's nice to see so many recruitment threads! I don't feel so alone anymore:)

DiamondK 08-10-2005 01:33 PM

That's really funny...I had one of those crazy dreams a few nights ago...it must be a part of PNM syndrome..ha ha!

girliegator 08-10-2005 03:09 PM

lol girls I'm glad I'm not alone - I had a crazy PNM dream too! I don't know what house I was in (that's probably a good thing!), but it was a good dream at least.

Well, if everyone is nervous, then I guess we're all in the same boat!

So I just finished moving all of my stuff in and getting my internet set up. I'm really excited for school to start and rush to get going! I've been talking with the people who wrote recs for me and apparently, none of them have been notified by their respective chapters that they recieved the recommendations, even though the chapters were given a (SASE) postcard to send back to my rec-writers. I'm a little disappointed, but maybe one will come back in the next couple of days.

jwright25 08-28-2005 09:44 AM

Copa - Don't sweat too much about your rec writers not getting their postcards back. Lots of times when the recs come in in mid to late August along with tons of other rec letters AND all the recruitment applications, the recruitment information managers simply don't have the time to get the acknowledgment out is as timely a fashion as they would like. Some chapters even wait until after recruitment is over so they can add a personal note like, "We were very excited when Copa pledged our sorority." and "Our women loved meeting Copa and even though she chose a different chapter, we feel she will be a great member there."

As an alumna, I'd prefer to wait till afterward to get those nice little additions so that I know what happened and what the chapter thought! But that's just me. I see the benefits in having an immediate acknowledgment, but don't worry yourself to death over the lack of one.

Best wishes for a fabulous recruitment!!

So I'm really glad to see that so many PNMs have had happy rush stories so far. I'm still kind of wondering if greek life is for me (and my mom isn't really being very supportive of me joining a sorority, but I don't really think she understands greek life at all) but I'm excited to give rush a try.

Orientation is tomorrow! I can't wait:)

epchick 09-09-2005 01:55 PM

good luck!

pinkyphimu 09-09-2005 10:55 PM

my mom wasn't thrilled either. her sister was in a sorority a long time ago and she was afraid i would have similar experiences. plus, she didn't go to college, so she didn't have any other frame of reference. my mom got over it when she saw what a great group of women i found! i hope you enjoy your experience!

copacabana 09-10-2005 10:23 PM

here goes nothing!

Thank you for all of the advice everyone has offered me so far-- it's been very valuable and I am sure it will continue to be very helpful during this recruitment process!

I went to orientation this morning! I already knew 2 girls in my rush group that I actually rushed with last semester (we all withdrew at the end instead of signing bid cards). The rho chis and panhel officers had the cutest shirts and my rho chi is really sweet! (I'm trying to guess her affiliation-- my guess is that she's either a strawberry or an apple!) There are a LOT of girls rushing this year at my school, so I'm a little intimidated.

So RUSH begins this Thursday! Ahhhh!
