I thought the same thing but actually if you Google bismuth oxychloride several pages come up with info about it from other sources. And this is certainly a personal decision everyone should make after doing their research. For me, I would rather go with something that does not contain this ingredient, among others. |
I love BE and is pretty much the only make up that I wear plus or minus a couple other products from some other companies (make up wise not skin care). I refuse to go back to the heaviness of liquid foundation. It makes my skin feel dirty anymore.
I watched the BE show this afternoon on QVC and ordered two new products the lipstick duo (before it sold out) and the RareMinerals Blemish Treatment. I love the RareMinerals Night Treatment so I'm excited to see how the blemish treatment works. |
And it's probably worth remembering that natural doesn't equal healthy anyway.
Rattlesnake venom is, after all, natural, but I wouldn't want it in my foundation. (or at least I don't think I do. Maybe it'd be good for fine lines the same way botox is, which by the way, is arguably natural.) |
Does anyone know the difference between the BE and Sheer Cover. They seem to be similar, and at first was leaning towards BE, but a friend of mine uses BE and her skin just looks OVERLY dry. So that was when I started looking at Sheer Cover.

I had a friend of mine in Beta Sigma Phi that was using sheer cover for a while. Problem is here you have to do it by mail order because no one sells it in the store. She got tired of having to do that and switched to bare minerals. She says it's about the same. I personally saw no difference either and still wouldnt know had she not told me. The Ulta store here is starting to sell Pur mineral make up. I havent tried it myself or know anyone else that has so I dont know how good that brand is. |

I'm pretty picky about ingredients and that sort of thing, but this just doesn't sound that dangerous to me. But to each their own :) |
I've used Bare Esentuals for the past 2 years and love it. I've converted my mom, sister and several friends/coworkers. People always say "you have such good skin" which is the best compliment. Before they used to say "your makeup looks good", etc.
|
I just bought the starter pack from Sephora. It has free shipping right now too. A few people in my office use it and some friends. So I finally decided to try it.
|
So I just got the Starter Set from ULTA today because my facial-lady said the foundation I've been using is bad for my skin and recommended I try some of the mineral foundation with SPF.
I'm kind of scared b/c I don't want to look orange. And WTH is the difference between the BareVitamins & Foundation Primer? Can you use one or the other? |

I busted open the set, popped in the DVD, and tried it.
I think it looks OK. Not as completely flawless as my skin did with liquid foundation, or as great as those girls on the DVD, but it still looks good. I tend to have oily skin, so we'll see how this goes. I think it will take a week or so to figure out if I'll keep using it. Does anyone have the Face Case or compact? I don't have one yet, but if I were to get one.... how the heck to I transfer some of the foundation powder from the original container to the compact? |

I have the compact and I've just transferred it by using a butter knife and sort of scooping it with the knife. You can't put too much in the compact so it works pretty well. Just beware of touching up TOO much with BE. I have a small mineral veil that I keep in my purse and the compact in case I need to touch up throughout the day. Usually just the oil absorbing sheets is fine for me but I'll touchup before going to happy hour or dinner after work. |
Thanks for the head's up on that OtterXO. Tomorrow will be my first day using it during a workday... so we'll see how that goes :) Maybe I'll give it more then a week to make the final call

If you picked one of the two colors in your color family you'll be okay :) I've only had one brand of foundation turn my skin orange and that was Cover Girl (years ago). |

You can also apply bare minerals (foundation, not warmth or mineral veil)with a damp sponge as well but use it sparingly if you choose to wear it that way. I use the face case with a small amount of foundation mixed in with mineral veil. I also sometimes if I'm using a smaller purse, will use the retractable flawless application brush with mineral veil already loaded on it. I have oily skin too and I've found that a light dusting of mineral veil before applying the foundation and everything else as usual helps a lot with taking down shine and absorbing oil throughout the day. |
