my point about having a kid with a woman you're not in love with is, things can get VERY tangled VERY quickly.

If you're married, usually a couple is willing to work together a little more -- same with a boyfriend/girlfriend who have a kid. There's a relationship at stake outside the parenting.

You want to be able to focus on raising the kid, NOT on a bitter custody battle with a woman you barely know.


Cosign on a surrogate mother or adoption.

Is this thread beyond a joke? There are two things I can think of right now that would end my good life at my age:

1) Losing all my limbs and living in a potato sack
2) Having a kid

Also, I don't know what I believe about whether or not someone can change their ways, ie become a one woman man after being with a million women at the same time. My thing is, why would I even be attracted, much less want to have CHILDREN with someone who had a past like that? Yuck! I'd like to stay STD free thankyouverymuch. (And yes I realize that promiscuous (sp?) women and men don't ALL have STD's but their chances are clearly much higher)

I don't know what I believe as to whether a promiscuous person (of either sex) could settle down with a single long-term partner. I'd say it's unlikely... it would have to be the right people at the right time.

I myself would be very wary of entering into a possible long-term monogamous relationship with a man known for his promiscuity. All that means is that I'm not the right woman to settle down with a man who's had 100+ partners.

I agree that it's a bad idea to get married simply to have a child. Marriage is about more than children.

Slight hijack: HotDamnImAPhiMu's post back on page 1 drives home an important lesson. If you're engaging in promiscuous sex, or even not-so-promiscuous sex, USE A CONDOM. A man never knows if a woman is lying about being on the pill. The pill has a certain failure rate. Plus, the pill and most other BC methods offer no protection against sexually transmitted diseases.

I have, yes. Mr. KR and I are friends with a couple, both of whom were beyond whorish before they got married. I mean, she would have one "date" leaving through the back dore while date #2 was ringing the front doorbell. And, 10 years after the fact, his bachelor party is still legendary.

You'd never know that now, however. He's a lobbyist in D.C. and coaches his kids' sports teams she's a soccer mom complete with Range Rover. And they seem really settled down and content.

I was like that with that quarterback John Elway. Before I saw his name in written form, I could never figure out if he was named "John Elway", "Johnell Way" or "John L. Way".

A certain small percentage of relationships stay in the kind of love that we think of as infautation.

You can usually tell because they act like adolescents around each other, a lot of affectionate playful touching and generally can make watchers a little nauseous.

Personally, I think thats what a true romance is and would think it appropriate to leave someone that you no longer felt like that towards.

What I am not sure of is whether that type of couple has an uncommon bond or just incredible social skills.

Speaking of Latinos, I watch Telemundo even though I don't understand much of what's going on because every girl is half naked...even on the kid's shows.

Tell you wannabe Tiki Barber friend that his idea is just plain dumb. He is just asking for more than he bargained for and if he marries just for kids and it still does not make him a decent father...

Why doesn't he just go out and invest like Michael Jackson did and not marry the woman who had his child but have legal rights on her womb and subsequent birth of his child--i.e. surrogate mother? He just has fun as the sperm donor? Hayle, if the chick was bisexual, then he'd be hooked up for life without responsibility...
