apparently before this all came to a trial and the allegations were put out there his celeb friends tried to pull an intervention on him to get help and to say hey stay away from kids and he just refused from what i read somewhere. I tend to think too he doesnt see what he has done is wrong. He wont last five minutes let alone a minute in central prison. Maybe they will put him somehwere where he can get some serious help.

Michael Jackson is really a master at this kind of thing.

Salon.com did an article a while back on how Michael has always played up his "weirdness" for publicity's sake. Some of the people quoted in the article even speculated that he had manufactured the child molestation charges for the attention. I'm not sure I buy it, but it's an interesting premise.

Either way he's cracked -- either he's molesting kids, or he's telling people he's molesting kids for attention. Neither one is normal.

That said, I have some major misgivings about the parents of this kid. They're perfectly happy to let him hang out with a man who's been accused of sexual molestation because he's giving them lots of expensive stuff for free? That's not exactly normal behavior either.

There are a lot of "criminals" who don't think they have done anything wrong. A lot of women convicted of the munchor (SP) by proxy syndrome do not think that they have done anything wrong, but yet they try to poison their kids, ect. I am not saying Jackson is guilty or not guilty, i just have done research on the phycology of what goes into the women involved in this disease and i believe that what these women do, ie denial, can be attributed to mental problems and that these mental type problems can be exhibited in different ways in different people. With a basis of deniability that they have done nothing wrong. Of course i am simplifying things.

With all that i do agree with the statement why would parents let their child go stay that night with Jackson. I mean, free stuff is nice, but sleeping in someones bed is just weird and I would question a parents own mental problems with thinking that it is okay to let a young boy go stay with a man, especially in todays society.

And the prior 'charges' leveled by this kid (and his mother) - how do you reconcile those with your second point, about 'the joint'?

Not basing it on anything really, just my opinion after following the trial a bit.

I taught school for 9 years working with BED students. Most had a history of being sexually abused. My position entailed that I work closely with law enforcement. According to the police officers I worked with, child molesters are on the lowesr rung of the prison population.

That's fair - I'm just making sure people have actually been following the trial, because it's not nearly as 'open-and-shut' as people have claimed. The guy's a huge weirdo, and it's not hard to say "I could believe it," but that's a definite perversion of justice, and really pretty disgusting if people have only been following on E! or other trash.

It's actually going to wind up being a fascinating case study, IMO, but that's neither here nor there.

I wasn't disputing your assessment of molesters in prison - my point was to inquire how the sometimes-brutal treatment of these people in prison makes it more or less important to avoid mistakes in sentencing, especially considering the outrageous schemes and faulty plots that have been hatched by other people, and this boy specifically, with regard to celebrities.

The prosecution has not done well in making its case; at least from the updates I've read, I'd be surprised if they got a conviction.

The guy sketches me out, but I think he's going to walk on this one.

He might walk free from a court of law... but the Supreme Court of Public Opinion will hang his ass out to dry just like O.J.
