We were traveling on Saturday, so I couldn't go online to get the tix. I called w/ my cell phone in one hand and Mr. AXiD670's cell phone in the other hand...and it took me 35 minutes to get through. Then I sat on hold for 10 more minutes....and finally the guy said he could only sell me tix one at a time! BOO! I'm so sad we couldn't get those tickets. :(

OOHH, that is such a bummer!! If Mr. WCUAXID and I had gone to that same event we would not have gotten our tickets but when I heard the weather forcast and that they were calling for rain and snow we decided to stay home and get our tickets. I think that was a good comprmise. I hated to miss the founders day celebration though. I bet it was great!!

U2 fans line up to appear in video
Global BC U2, Global TV, BC Wednesday, April 27, 2005 CREDIT: Global BC Irish rock band U2 issued a last-minute call for extras to participate in a music video shoot Wednesday. Thousands of Vancouverites lined up at GM Place to be part of it. Fans of the mega-popular rock band U2 scrambled to get down to GM Place after Lower Mainland radio stations announced that the band was looking for extras to appear in the video they were shooting Wednesday. The news came as a surprise, but U2 had no trouble getting the 4,000 extras they were looking for. The video shoot was expected to take several hours. U2 perform at GM Place on Thursday and Friday. Both shows sold out within minutes. |
So does anyone in NYC or NJ have extra tickets?

Kings of Leon were with them in Denver but we got there late and missed them. U2 didn't come on till 9. Franz Ferdinand will be with them in Europe and The Killers will also be with them, but I'm not sure if it's in Europe or when they come back to the US/Canada. |

Vancouver's first U2 concert was last night; I am going to the second show tonight - I am so excited!

Excerpt from my blog:
The Watering Hole __________________________________ ...Yes, I have a message for Paul Martin ...you see Bono told me to give him a call... I was very happy and fortunate to be one of the chosen ones. That is one of the U2 fans lucky enough to get tickets for their Vertigo tour. Two nights in Vancouver sold out in about 15 minutes. Granted I was behind the stage, and way up in the nosebleeds of GM place, but it still rocked. I don't think I can even describe the excitement and anticipation in GM Place on Friday night, and the stage set up - well, you just had to be there. I was dancing up a storm (and there wasn't much room, sandwiched between Andrew L. and Colin) to Vertigo, Elevation, Sunday Bloody Sunday and the list goes on. The one thing I noticed was the number of generations present at the concert, different generations for different albums. There were some young kids in front of us who seemed to know everything off of "How to Dismantle and Atomic Bomb," and then there was my crew, the Achtuang, Zooropa generation, and so on. They played a ton of stuff from the new album, more so than most stops, I believe. Why? Well, they are using the Vancouver (and I believe Seattle) concert for the Tour DVD. Pretty cool! Then, during One, the UN charter scrolled across the big screens, and so did Paul Martin's phone number. Bono asked everyone to get out their cell phones and call PM-PM and tell him that Canada is the best nation to put a stop to poverty in 3rd world countries - these were Bono's words. During One, everyone had their cell phones open, swaying to the music and the blue and green glows lit up GM place - it was an awesome effect. Very powerful. The next evening, while at dinner with friends of ours, we decided to see if this phone number actually connected us to Paul Martin - we were connected to the Prime Minister's Office and then to the Prime Minister's voice mail... Bono told us to give you a call, we support his cause and want Canada to take a leading effort in ending poverty in 3rd world countries. |
I'm going tomorrow in the luxury box from work :)
If it sucks I'll sell my 4 tickets for the fall on ebay. -Rudey |
Rudey, depending on the city that they are in, I'll buy them....but it's not going to suck...the concert is great.

My impression was that the concert was good but a little too...sanitized. The ring stage was interesting but really not exciting. Kings of Leon were OK but hardly any fans even showed up until they were off stage. Bono said something about Coldplay being there and I think he said something in Polish (I figured it was Polish since there was a Polish event that day in Chicago) but I couldn't understand it. As usual, I could live without the political messages from the Bono/Madonna (She did the same thing in the concert last year). The crowd is getting older :P Overall, good concert but not outstanding. -Rudey |
Yay! I'm gonna see U2 at Continental Airlines Arena tomorrow!
