I was actually in Tenessee for the weekend staying with my little sister. We went out to eat for dinner & I see a girl from a sorority wearing a badge with Jeans, Tee, & flipflops! I asked the girl where she was from & she told me UT & I asked her the name od her chapter there & she told me she could remember!:eek:
She definatly wasnt greek because turned out there wasnt even that particular sorority on that campus..ever!
So needless to say she was disrespeting her "sorority" without even knowing it!

I have just recently become more active as an alumnae at my chapter (recruitment advisor) and I wish I had more chance to wear my pin. I don't dress up much and when I do (outside of ADPi stuff) I don't wear my pin cause well I figure I am a little too old don't get me wrong I am an ALPHA DELTA PI and proud of it but some things I figure are more of a collegiate thing.

HOWEVER I wonder if other sororities make rings or charms out of their pins or is that against there GLO rules?

Rules as I understood them for ADPi was dress shoes and hoes (sp?) for pin eligability wear. And pin had to be above your heart. If you wanted to be recognized as ADPi we always had crest pins and lavaliers.

AGD alumnae are permitted to wear their Badge in ways besides the traditional over-the-heart position.

They may wear their Badge as a pendant (mine is set in circle pendant), on a lapel, as a charm, or as a ring.

Burr, Patterson, and Auld sell the circle pendants to set our Badges on, and I believe they also sell bracelets. If you want your Badge set as a ring, I think you'd have to go to a jeweler. One of our local alums has hers set that way (with the 14 pearl Badge) and it's BEAUTIFUL!

Hey Great pics and links. I love to see what people are talking about (my imagination isnt that great) by attaching links and pics.

ADPi has one of those rings we by from (ADPI "gift mart") that you can attach your pin to. Looks great with jeweled badges but more durable with plain badge.

Or we can get it perminately attached (but I would rather it be interchangeable.

We are not allowed to make our badges or new member pins into any other form of jewelry.

I wish we could... I would have liked to make my NM pin into a pendant. It's such a pretty little pin, and ever since I was initiated, it has been in the back of my jewelry box gathering dust :(

Well... no. My sorority does not allow wearing our badge with jeans.

When suitably dressed, initiated members of Sigma Chi Fraternity may wear the badge. The badge is to be worn on a collared shirt, pull-over sweater, or vest, but never on the lapel of a coat.

I've noticed that on my campus, it's very common for our 10 fraternities to require their pledges to wear their pledge pins for the duration of their pledge period, but that Sigma Chi's seem to be the only ones who require their pledges to always be dressed up while wearing it, by which I mean at the very least no jeans, only khakis or nicer pants, and no t-shirts. Are they one of the only fraternities to have this rule, or are they just the only ones on my campus that follow it? I just remember a certain friend of mine having to do laundry very often ;)


Also, Kappa Delta does offer through our official jeweler various ways to wear ones badge as jewelery as an alumnae. I know a ring can be made out of it, and a pendent. The pendent is very cool, we had a travelling consultant come who had it.

Random question for those of you in GLOs where you can make your badge into a ring or pendant: When wearing your badge in this way, are you still required to dress up, or can you wear it with more casual attire such as jeans? I imagine you still have to dress up...

I assume you would still have to wear the appropriate dress..

I assume you wear it when dressed up, but I doubt it is a strick rule. I mean I wouldnt wear it with shorts but I would wear it with a nice sweater and jeans. ( on a ring I mean).

I mean I respect my wedding ring and I wear it in the pool so I don't think that rule would have anything to do with respect for the badge. But, I do see a difference wearing it as a pin and wearing it as a ring. ("pin attire")

But ADPi's correct me if I am wrong.

Sorry there are no pics with the pin on it, but it looks very nice. I am not positive on our national policy, but I feel that if you are wearing a KD pin as a pin, necklace, or ring, you should be wearing proper business or formal pin attire.

A caveat to this thread:in terms of a female(fiancee,mother) wearing a fraternity badge or someone else wearing a sorority badge,are there similar rules governing where and how it is to be worn?
