7. Even though you are already driving 15 miles over the speed limit, the idiot behind you with the New York tags flashing his lights and flipping you off wants you to get the out of the way. No offense, it's common practice up there.

8. Although there is only one posted speed limit, there is a fast lane and a slow lane. Those traveling in the fast lane are usually doing 20-25 miles above the speed limit. If you want to drive the speed limit, stay in the right lane.

Ugh! I wish either of these were true!!!
NYers are such wimpy drivers (aside from the cabbies when in the borough of Manahttan!). They totally drive the speed limit (which is ONLY 55 in most places). maybe 5 miles over. And they ALL drift into other lanes. And they drive slow in the fast lane. I think I've seen maybe 10 people in the last 5 years even getting close to 20 miles over (and one of them was me! ;) ). When I go home to Michigan I feel like such an old lady - hanging in the right lane going only 70. My skills are dwindling...:(

I'm a native Nu Yawka and I drive like a beast unleashed!! So, that blanket statement doesn't apply to me!!! :p

LOL! I find that drivers up here are more erratic than in the south.

Also, is this thread directed at ME? Because I promise I'm not THAT Southern. I just don't know snow. ;)

You will be FINE up here, really. It's not as bad as anybody makes it out to be.

Well, Mel, we have the special "I-75 bond" too, because I probably live no more than 3 or 4 miles from where she lives. Which high school did she go to? There's a million.

She went to Walker, which I think is pretty small and K-12. Her brother goes to Marist. I also have another sorority sister who went to Westminster.

I'm a Marylander too.. sigmagrrl, where are you from?
