He has an innate science instinct in him! When he was a toddler (walking but not talking), he discovered that the humidifier would blow a balloon up into the air so he started getting other things to see if they would go up too. He tried paper, blocks, rocks, cars, etc. As he got a little older, we'd catch him "doing science" by mixing things he found in the kitchen together and putting them in the freezer. I decided that we'd better channel that more productively before he made something dangerous so we started doing science projects at home. That, combined with a LOVE for The Weather Channel got him to this point. His project for this science fair is a home made barometer which he used to make weather observations to see if he could predict precipitation. At the moment, he aspires to be a meteorologist! Anyway, I've only helped foster his natural interests (so that he didn't blow up the house or something!)
He was NOT a good baby.. he cried for hours on end and was colicky for months. |
No kids but I'll brag on my little brothers instead.
Brother #1- He's 10 years old and is an honor student. In his spare time he plays in 2 basketball leagues and is a Boy Scout. Brother #2- He's 17 and will graduate from HS this May. He has a 3.0 GPA. He's played football and run track all 4 four years. He's been named to the All City track team twice and the All City football team 3 times. He's got a full scholarship to Tiffin University here in OH to play football and plans to major in Sports Management and minor in Coaching. |
I can't brag about my dog yet because he's kind of dumb so far. He only knows how to sit, so if you want him to do something he'll just sit, like it's his default response to anything. Kind of cute but dude's going to have to learn some new tricks.

I'm going to brag about my dog. He's a nearly 3 year old chocolate lab (his birthday is the same as mine), about 90 lbs. He's a very smart dog, even though I haven't trained him to hunt or anything he knows, sit, stay, down, put the ball in my hand, he walks wonderfully on the leash& he'll listen to me when I tell him to do things (the best part). He likes to chill at my feet whenever I'm on the computer.
When I took him to the park Sunday he was getting tons of compliments, especially people who didn't have a dog b/c the other dogs were nuisances. His name is Oscar. -Mark |
Well, my son didn't win tonight and he's very disappointed and discouraged. My heart was aching for him as I saw his face fall when his name wasn't called. My poor little man. He still watched The Weather Channel tonight though, so it hasn't destroyed his interest completely.
