OK I don't want to get in some kind of heated discussion about this because it is pointless. Some people like him some people don't but the truth is...he is just like some of the "pop stars" he makes fun of.. He is nothing but a product marketing himself through controversy. He is nothing but a brilliant marketing scheme just like that of Britney Spears, etc.

I know you could argue all day that he is an actual artist that writes these brilliant poems. And I am not denying that he is a talented writer. But at the end of the day everything he does is just a marketing tool. And I don't buy it. But some people do.

Remember that time that he was at that award show (I can't remember what it was--VMA's maybe?) and I think it was that dog from Conan was taunting him and he got all pissed. He can dish it out in all directions...but he couldn't take it...even from a PUPPET!! It was funny.

End of discussion for me. I am not going to argue about Eminem. It is not worth any more of my time because I am not going to change anyone's mind...and no one is going to change mine. I don't like him-and other people do...

The difference between Eminem and Britney is the Em is the one making his own decisions for himself. Britney has been the puppet of the marketing industry for most of her career. Em markets his own image; Brit doesn't. Em pimps himself out, Britney gets pimped out. Etc. . . .

And I like Britney more than I like Eminem, by the way.

To explain my comment, I meant that anyone that would use an Eminem video to make a political decision probably won't take the time to show up at the polls. I'm sorry but entertainers have a place and it is certainly not in the political arena.

It's funny that everyone I've ever seen complaining about entertainers in politics is not only a Republican, but has no problem with Ahhhnold or Reagan.

Entertainers are Americans too. They have just as much of a right to express their political opinion as any of the rest of us do.

The Phi Gam guy says that entertainers have no place in politics. I pointed out two entertainers who have a place in politics in his own state.

Because you are focusing on something irrelevant when you obviously knew what he meant. In fact one can even say that they stopped being entertainers when they entered the political arena while Eminem has not. Why nitpick and worry about "who moved your cheese in the fridge"?

Oh my.... I haven't commented on these discussions before because I just see a lot of name calling and immature tactics. With that said, I could not resist joining in due to the comments of a few posters.
What makes you think entertainers and Eminem AREN'T making a difference in young voters??
I am a student in college in a very conservative state and I have seen many of my fellow students become more involved in this election. I have always been a hardcore liberal who pressed my friends into voting in EVERY election (even homecoming court lol) but this time these people are actually registered. Their parents, school teachers, high school government classes, CNN, or the fact that it was RIGHT that young people before them FOUGHT for could not energize these people.... but now they ARE registering, volunteering, and voting in record numbers. They are pissed off about the economy, the fact that the price of tuition is IMPOSSIBLE to pay (and I attend a "cheaper" school), they do not think we should be in a war with Iraq, they wonder why it is that Bush does not care about "smoking Osama out of his hole" anymore, and they really care about gay marriage, abortion, and stem cell research.
For the most part these are issues that have been argued before (which countries should the US interfere with, the economy, social issues, and the environment)... yet now many of the students I know say this is the most important election of their lives.... and they also say that MTV's Choose or Lose, P.Diddy's "Vote or Die" and the fact that DMB, Bruce Springsteen, and Foo Fighters (to name a few) are on the campaign trail with John Kerry are the reasons they became involved in the process after ALL this time. The Eminem video has been talked about numerous times. These kids started watching Comedy Central and some are now even tuning into CNN on a regular basis.
In my opinion, and due to the many personal instances I see on a daily basis.... these entertainers (whom some of you seem to think should shut up or are not doing anything,) have gotten these young adults involved in the political process. These are people I know, have known all my life or have known a few months that have decided to get involved and are making decisions regarding their political beliefs. And yes, I know for a fact that a majjority of it would not have happened if it WEREN'T for so many entertainers jump starting them and being such great role models. They have said this is the first time they felt like their vote would affect them and make a difference, and the first time they felt like a value to a campaign.
You can THANK entertainers such as Eminem for getting young people involved in the political process instead of criticizing him.
And if you don't like his message, perhaps you should find an entertainer to stir up the young Republicans........

I'm all for young people getting youg people involved in the political process...but I'm not sure I would hold Eminem responsible. And also...the polls I've seen don't always show that young voters are voting for democrats. On NBC the other morning they were talking about how the young voters have been pretty much divided. So let's not assume that young republicans aren't voting.

Hello. I didn't call you a racist. Feeling guilty about something perhaps? Nor did I call you a bigot. I said you'd made some hateful bigoted comments in the past. You may think you haven't, but they obviously left enough of an impression on me to remember that. Posts such as all of your virulent anti-Canada posts. And hottytoddy and whoever else is saying all this anti-eminem stuff... who has claimed that Eminem is singlehandedly bringing people to the polls? No one! He's part of a bigger movement. While a lot of people don't agree with entertainers becoming political, more people, young and old, pay more attention to the lives and opinions of entertainers than they do any politician. Hence why there are tons of shows and even specific channels devoted to the lives of celebrities. Why can't they try to get people involved in the political process? Why don't they have that right? You remember that little thing called freedom of speech... that was particularly created for thing such as this- people expressing their political opinons. So are entertainers exempt from the Bill of Rights???
