In other words, so you guys think wearing your letters after graduation is kids stuff?

I still wear letters

I have one full set of letters still that I most recently wore this past weekend at the chapter house and back at my school for Homecoming. I also have a fleece pullover with a small KKG embroidered on it, otherwise most of my date party and philanthropy shirts are worn around the house or at the gym or were used for the t-shirt quilt I made my chapter my senior year.

But, I still use my KKG mug I got on bid day, I still use my KKG paper and notecards, I have a fleur-de-lis keychain, a classic silver bracelet with my letters engraved on it, an antique crest ring that I won off eBay, a antique KKG charm bracelet that I won off eBay, a blue and blue bathroom full of fleur-de-lis and irises, random "Kappa" decor scattered around our house and I'm currently wearing my badge (my original badge, not the antique one I rescued) in honor of our Founder's Day. I continue to remain active as an alumna and very proud of my Kappa affiliation and want to show that pride however and whenever I can.

Not at all. It is just that post-graduation, there is a time and a place to wear letters. Personal experience and stories from close friends have taught me that employers and co-workers take you more seriously when your apparel matches the corporate culture. Hence, pins, lavalieres, etc., are best worn at alumnae or chapter functions. I appreciate my undergrad memories and have done more than my fair share of alumnae volunteering, but I'm also not about to alienate myself from my workplace or be passed over for a promotion because of someone else's perception that I'm just a "college kid." So, I'll wear my letters in situations that warrant letters.

I still hold strong to my sorority way of life, but it isn't something that takes up 24 hours of my day, as it did in college. Nor should it.

I don't see anything wrong with this. Being a member of a sorority taught me the importance of being part of a group and working with the group. So I dress appropriately for my audience. I encourage any graduate and alum of a GLO to do what is best for them.

oh hell yes...i still have my phi kappa psi letters on my car, and when i get my new truck in a few months i have this phi kapa psi alumni sticker i am putting on it

I've basically done the same thing with AXO as my undergrad. As much as those years were awesome, I just don't need to stroll around town with my college logo. As we get older, some of us have different ways of showing pride in our affiliations.

I wear my badge daily...it looks really great on my suits and with pearl earrings. Most of my t-shirts are AOII, so when I am casual, I am usually wearing an AOII shirt.
I also wear either a lavalier or my AOII award charm on a necklace.

I wear my AOII signet ring daily. I also wear my AOII lavalier often. I've got a few tees I do wear when the opportunity arises. I'd love to get a polarfleece type top with AOII alumna embroidered onto it one of these days.

I don't really have any letters anymore, but wear a necklace w/a round gold pendant w/the Delta Zeta crest engraved on it to work every single day. I also have a homecoming t-shirt from a couple of years ago that I wear on weekends (it has DZ - LXA on it), and a DZ Surfing Sisters Sweatshirt, which is embroidered, so it looks a little more "grown up."

Don't get me wrong-if I had any stitched letters, I'd wear them whenever it was appropriate...and I'm 34 years old. I also have a decal on the back of the mini-van that I use to tote numerous children to scouts, brownies, baseball, etc.

Sure do!! I still wear my sorority letter shirts and I was also a little sis to one of the frats on campus and I still wear those letters too! Sometimes the kids at my Head Start ask me "what does that say?" so of course I tell them.

It has my access card attached to it. I need it to get in and out of the building. Beats the hell outta rummaging thru my pockets looking for it.

Most of the shirts and stuff I wear at home when I work out. I do have a licence plate frame and I wear a lavalier that was given to me

i wear my bid day shirts and letters around the house, but that's about it. i still have letters on the back windscreen of my car but thats only becuase they're pretty baked on there, but we're selling my car in a couple months so it'll be someone else's problem lol
i personally dont like to be labeled as "greek" by people i dont know well, especially when it comes to professional settings. if someone asks me if i'm greek i wont deny it or anything, but i dont bring it up.

See, in my opinion, this is abandoning the crusade for great greek PR!

I make a huge deal out of not wearing my letters anywhere that reflects poorly on my sorority or greeks as a whole -- bars, stripping, you know, the usual. But I *also* make a big deal out of wearing my letters anywhere and everywhere it's good PR for us! There are a lot of ways for people to judge me.... if they're going to, let them. The people that matter (at my work, my friends, my family) are judging me by the quality of work I put out, the kind of friend I am, etc.

places I DO like to wear/show letters....

* volunteering for the SPCA
* church
* stuff with my alumna group -- we do things for Children's Miracle Network sometimes, things like that
* my mom's school, when I go in to volunteer w/ the kids
* at the gym, getting buff

Though I should note I haven't put my letters on my car because I am a TERRIBLE driver. I cut people off accidentally, leave my blinker on, and generally do things that definately would make people say, "Who's that XYZ b!tch driving that car?"

I have some jewelry I still wear - A charm bracelet. And I have some anchor stuff in my house.
However! I still have all my stuff from undergrad days, even my bid card from DG. It will always, always be special to me.

Hope no one took offense to me saying "there's a time and a place to wear letters once you're an alum." I think if you're an alum and you wear letters frequently, that's great PR and something that works well for you! I just know that for me, I do wear letters around the house and to sorority events, but I pretty much keep it to a minimum at the workplace, because the places I have worked wouldn't consider it appropriate. Again, collegian or alum, each person should wear what works for them.
