You may try to minimize the importance of this since your candidate didn't win..but the historical significance is here nonetheless. The Repubs have the Presidency, the House, and the Senate.. Dubya won this with ALL the media except Fox News against him, the Hollywood ultra liberals, and Michael Mooron campaigning... the 527's ... this man ran a tight campaign...and he deserved the win.

i am SOOOOOOOOO depressed about Bush winning. I want 2 move out of the country also because there is no way in HELL that I will fight in a war that I don't believe in and and a President that that is not worth 2 cents. Everyone needs to hold on tight and see how much more Bush is going to jack up the USA. Four elections = 16 years = 1988. Isn't that what I said? So why is it so historical? It was basically a two-party race, unlike some of the more recent races that had stronger third parties, thus of course someone would get the majority. AND this has been the largest voter turnout since 1968 and the population has increased, so what is the significance of it being historical?

For example, every year we say our sorority national conventions are the biggest in history. Well that is because our membership grows every year, so you would expect them to get bigger evey year. So being historical means nothing in that context.

And btw, Kerry got the second largest number of votes of any presidential candidate in our country's history.

And yes you're right about Kerry..he got the SECOND largest number of votes.

I do however agree with whoever wins the popular vote should win. The electoral college is outdated....but maybe everyone should stop complaining about it..and DO something about it..myself included.. I think it will take a constitutional amendment..

I'm going to spend the next several days praying for our country. The majority has spoken and have decided that they would like to continue along this ungodly path we have been on for the past four years. Yes, I did say ungodly. Despite all this talk about Bush's Christianity and "values", his actions have shown he is not a Christian and is morally bankrupt. I will pray for all the brave servicemen and women in Iraq. There is no need for them to be there. I will be praying for my 18 year old son and all the young people in our country. I'm quite sure the next step for Bush and his cronies will be to reinstate the draft. What have they got to lose? They don't have to worry about running for office again.

I love this country and would not want to live anywhere else in
the world. I have faith that the next election will be different. By that time the deficits should be doubled and more people out of work and without medical insurance. Maybe then folx will wake up.
