Thanks for the suggestion! I just wish I knew another TriDelta. My Family is Kappa Delta.

I have been learning from other friends that my school (Elon) has a very different colonization process... because our school invites a sorority onto the campus and the head quarters chooses the founding sisters. Those who recieve a bid have 2-3 months to learn all about TriDelta, Establish the Sorority on Campus, and Prepare for Rush in January! But I am up for the challenge!

Which college do you attend?

That's how the colonization process was done for us :D

I'm a colony girl!

My "rush" was just as you are talking about. My chapter of AGD colonized in the fall (I think sometime in September). My class was chosen by area alumnea and the LC who was stationed at my school for the year. We were "new members" while we were acting as members... we had to be on Panhel (I was the delegate), we did the Panhell Tea, and we even had to host a skit night about going greek for the upcoming Spring Rush. We didn't have a house, we didn't have a chapter room... we met all over campus for about 2 years in various classrooms. We rushed out of frat houses, when they weren't rushing. We were initiated in December and started recruiting new members the following January.

We finally have a house and a chapter room to call our own. We won best new chapter at the convention last summer and are looking forward to our 5th birthday this year!

It would have been easier to have joined an established chapter, where traditions were set and reputations were known, but I wouldn't have changed a thing about going with the new chapter. I will be able to look back in 10 or 20 and hopefully 50 years and say I was apart of all those traditions. I helped set the stage for all the AGD's that followed me at Georgetown College.

Good luck and have fun.

Way ahead of you...I already have a rec sent in for me :)

I'm up for the challenge as well! This is my senior year and my last chance to join a GLO. I love everything about Tri Delta, and I'm very excited about colonization :D

Consultations are next week, and bid day is next Friday! Wish us luck!!

Congrats on your awards! That is awesome that your chapter was able to achieve so much so quickly!

Our Chapter will not have a house right away... Hopefully we will have a suite next semester... But Greek Life is planning on bringing another frat on campus in the fall and then they will build an addition to the greek courts!

I cant wait! I have been looking at other schools websites and have actually found some TriDeltas from my high school! I would be honored to be a Tri Delta!

I wish I knew a TriDelta... but I turned in another fabulous recomendation from my internship this summer... So I hope that will help!

Good luck to all the Elon PNMs!

I was there during the Sigma Kappa and Alpha Chi Omega colonizations, it is so exciting!!!!!

Jessy4069 09-29-2004 11:48 AM

Thats Awesome!

I am glad that Elon is really putting forth an effort to expand greek life on campus! So much good is done through the philanthropies here... its pretty amazing!

FSUZeta 09-29-2004 02:25 PM

with zta,

when establishing a colony, a recommendation is not necessary, so maybe it is the same for tri delta. could any tridelta sisters weigh in on this?

Xylochick216 09-29-2004 03:05 PM

When my Alpha Chi Omega chapter was colonized a few years ago, hardly anyone had a rec. I think you should be fine without one :) Elon isn't a place where it's necessary to have a rec, but it sure doesn't hurt.

Good luck, Jessy :) I know everyone on campus is excited for Tri Delta's colonization! Have fun!

HELP

I need suggestions...

One of the girls who is also rushing tridelta... well lets just say we have drastically clashing personalities. I know TriDelta is the place for me... but i am really worried that if we both get bids how it will work out! Has this or something similar ever happened to anyone?

My heart is in TriDelta and its where I know I belong, but I am getting more and more nervous about what might happen the closer it gets to Bid Day!!!

Anyone got good advise?

Xylochick216 09-29-2004 03:34 PM

You're not going to be best friends with everyone in your chapter. I know when AXO colonized in 2001, there were 86 women who helped the process. Some of these 86 were best friends, some knew no one, and some had people they couldn't stand in the chapter. But you know what? It didn't matter. There were so many women in the chapter that they didn't HAVE to be best friends. It's the same in every chapter on campus. You'll never get over 100 women together and have them all be best friends. But you learn to respect your differences because of what you share within your GLO :)

Jessy4069 09-29-2004 03:50 PM

That is very true... Thanks for the insite....

I am just so nervous about bid day.... 9 days left!

JupiterTC 09-29-2004 06:58 PM

For some reason, I'm not nervous (though I probably will be next Thursday!). I'm just enjoying the process, and learning more about Tri Delta. This is probably because I've been through formal recruitment before (I'll tell everyone about my previous recruitment experience after bid day), but who knows.

FYI, the field consultant will call girls who did not receive a bid next Thursday night . So it's the "dreaded phone call" syndrome again. But hey, if Jessy and/or I do not get a call next Thursday, then we get bids on Friday!

Think dolphins...;)

Jessy4069 09-29-2004 09:14 PM

Does any one have any input on whether it is better to go towards the begining or towards the end so they remember you for interviews... right now I am scheduled for the 1st day durring the last spot... ANYONE: Let me know if you think this is a bad idea!

I have gone through rush before as well... but I didnt pledge. But for some reason I am ALOT more nervous now then I was before, prolly because I really want Tridelta!

Trust me I will be sitting in my room all night praying that I dont get a phone call!

Good Luck Jupiter!

mmcat 09-29-2004 11:36 PM

all the best to both of you....
may there be no "phone call" and only joy.
good luck to you.
