I definitely wouldn't do it, because I think it's tacky. The only thing that is ok with me is letters on the leg. I have a pair of scrub pants that say "Property of Delta Gamma" on the front upper leg area, and pair of soffee shorts with the greek DG on it.

I don't know.. I have a pair of black pants with teal letters outlined in white that I bought to wear during SJ sharks games AT HOME.. I don't actually wear them out but a lot of my sisters do.. it's pretty popular with my sisters at my chapter.. but my best friend an AoII is forbidden from wearing them.. I understand where both sides are coming from.. I DO have a pair but they're my lounge pants..

I mean... what other reason for wearing letters on one's butt is there but to draw attention to it?

Trust me, that is one of the last places where I want to draw attention to! I got a pair of shorts from ebay and was pissed to find out that they had letters on the butt :(

That's still fine to me because I don't see tongue rings as a girl thing.

I just think letters (AND CREST, which I did see on a thong!) on your butt are disrespectful.

It's a shame to see that there are orgs that actually devote time and energy to such a trivial thing. There are always things that would benefit more from the time and energy of the organization.

But I don't really care how a person wears their letters as long as they wear them. Members never wearing their letters would be a bigger issue with me.

I wouldn't consider the appropriate use of my letters a trivial thing. I think its an issue of respect, but NPC orgs and NPHC/Latino orgs often see things differently when it comes to earning your letters.

I don't find the use of my letters trivial thing either. I know that I personally would not wear letters on my rear. Also, I know in my chapter that it was highly expected of you to be presentable when wearing your letters. Walking around campus, hungover or sloppy messy hair/makeup, was highly discouraged and looked down upon. I think most chapters are like this though. 'Big Brother' is always watching....especially when one has on their letters. I know if I saw an XYZ being unlady like per se or acting like a fool, the letters were the first thing I noticed. With all that being said, I think that the use of your letters is something that one should respect and think twice about before they use/wear them.

I'm talking about the material letters not the meaning of your letters. Of course the actual meaning of your letters is not trivial but materialistic representatives are. If you are true to your letters in your heart, it shouldn't matter how they are worn, as long as they are worn.

Like I said, there are larger issues that greeks could invest time and energy in, perhaps trying to reverse some of the many negative stereotypes we face everyday. But if conquering this "disrespect" floats your boat, get at it!

I simply try to better myself and my fraternity in other ways....

And the point is? It was kind of lost on me.

I mean don't get me wrong I don't agree with it either and if people feel that strongly against it they should get at it. To some people this is a bigger issue.

I'd rather spend time increasing our numbers, volunteering members at Childrens Hospital or raising money for the Childrens Miracle Network and other things that I personally find important and rewarding.

Of course I can only speak for myself, but I never joined my fraternity for "letters," I joined for something much more.
