Because this issue was brought before a federal judge that does that mean this was an appeal to a decision that was made earlier?

By the time the judge said no, isn't it already toolate to have an alternate plan? How much would it have cost to have a protest parade in the street, like the one used for Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, during the convention?

The following information comes from the article.
"Christopher Dunn, associate legal director with the New York Civil Liberties Union, said arguments about freedom of expression aside, the cost of staging the rally on the West Side Highway would be prohibitive to event organizers.

"They can't afford it," he said, referring to the $631,000 price tag for sound equipment and jumbotrons. Event organizers estimate that it would cost less than half - or $250,000 - if the rally were held in Central Park."

Here is where it get interesting. The costs involved to protest. I think it's wrong for the event organizers to expect that NYC taxpayers should pick up the tab for repairing and resodding the park after it's use. Poor planning on their part for not thinking about the extra fees involved to have something of this size. I think the crowd estimates were low in the story if the protesters did have their Cental Park location.

The New York City Police Department and Parks Department are anticipating a variety of separate events before and during the Republican National Convention. The Convention itself begins Monday, August 30th and continues through Thursday, September 2nd, however, demonstrations and other events begin on Friday, August 27th. These events and demonstrations include:

Friday, August 27th

* Christian Defense Coalition, 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., prayer vigil on 7th Avenue in front of Madison Square Garden. The Coalition has also scheduled a demonstration at Church Street between Liberty and Vesey Streets, on Sunday, August 29th.

The building will have extra perimeter guards and will be closing the entrance doors on 51st, 52nd, North Galleria and Seventh Avenue Main Door from 5:30 pm (instead of the usual 7:00 pm).



I currently have no knowledge at this time if the 52nd Street will be closed around the time of the march. I will update you as we get more info.

If the convention was in Tennessee, they would put on even more of a freak show. The overwhelmed Tennessee law enforcement officers would overreact, and Tennessee would be portrayed as a third world nation.

Be grateful that Tennessee doesn't have to handle something that's way beyond its ability.
