I don't see anything wrong with a female President and Commander-in-Chief. Yes, the transition would be strange. The people who say there should never be a female President are no better than those who say African-Americans should not hold the top office.
While you guys sit here and whine about women doing this, open your eyes. There are all-female aircrews flying combat support missions in Afghanistan and Iraq. Last time I checked, the Taliban supported the 'females can't do anything' theory. Just my two cents, have a good one. |

We've already had a woman president-Hillary. ;)
And to the poster who wrote he wouldn't vote for a woman yet b/c he hasn't seen any worth voting for....well the male candidate pool is pretty shallow as well. Unfortunately that's all that's running now. |

My only problem with Condoleeza Rice is that she is an academic. I am starting to wonder more and more whether a lot of our upper level staff posiitons should be given to people that primarily academics.
As far as a woman president, I would be fine with that unless she had adopted too many male characteristics. Women in business that act more like a man than a woman in their mannerisms make my skin crawl a little. |

There was one, however, who came close to doing so. At the end of Woodrow Wilson's (FKY from UVa and Johns Hopkins) presidency, he was in such poor health, that Edith Wilson is considered to have assumed a large part of the role of President. Her official White House profile is here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/fi...es/ew28-2.html |
I wouldn't mind a female president, but not Hillary or Barbara Cubin *grrr*. I agree that there isn't one I'd vote for now, but I think a woman would be very beneficial to this country! Hmmm, maybe it's time we start changing our ways....

I wouldn't call her an "academic" after 4 years as the top foriegn policy advisor. |

Can you tell me in what way running the United States is similar (realistically) to running a family? If running a family is the mark of a good Commander in Chief, I want Danny Tanner from Full House. |

With the exception of infantry and Special Forces troops in the Army, submarine duty/SEAL in the Navy and pararescue/combat controller in the Air Force, practically all jobs in the military are open to women. Mixed male-female missileers pull alert duty in the ICBM silos, females are now fighter jocks in the Air Force and the Navy.
