I don't really see the point. Obama had Illinois from the beginning and at this point, I don't think any amount of smear commercials or campaigning will change anything. He is just sitting back chillin right now.

His wife does look a little whooped, though, I must say. I actually know her...she works at the U of C somtimes and she always looks like that. I guess those little kids are taking her for quite a ride. *shrugged shoulders*

Who is his wife and where does she work?

Rudey,
GC would be sooo boring without your posts ;)
Gotta love it! :p

Keyes doesn't have a prayer of winning. Obama has tons more money and the Republicans have basically written it off. They should focus their efforts on seats they can actually win instead of wasting their time on Illinois when Obama has it locked up.

She usually does things with Pam Bozeman in the community service center. If I find a pic, I'll post it. Knowing you, you'd hit regardless of what she looks like  j/k.

While I think Keyes went too far in his statement, I thought this contradictory statement was equally troubling by Obama:

"I think it's a deeply troubling statement," Obama said. "To suggest that somehow the slaughter of innocent people in New York and in Washington was somehow brought about as a consequence of women exercising their reproductive freedom is not the way most people here in Illinois think."

I think its interesting that he doesn't see abortion as killing an innocent life LOL..but to NOT turn this into a thread about abortion, I'll end it here. ;)

Again..its not about Keyes winning..its about getting the other side's agenda out there i.e. Al Sharpton running for President.

Tonight on the local news it was announced that Keyes has lost the respect of the Republican party because of remarks he made in a radio interview regarding Dick Cheney gay daughter. He called her "a selfish hedonist" and said if he had a daughter who was gay he'd still love but would still her what's she's doing is a sin.(the interview was aired and you heard him loud and clear)

Judy Baar Topinka, head of IL Republican party, said it was wrong of Keyes to speak out against the child of Dick Cheney. She said he does not reflect the views of the party. Former IL governor Jim Thompson was also interviewed and agreed Keyes was wrong.

I think the only vote Keyes may get is his own.

Keyes has been making the talk show rounds at the convention. When asked about his remarks on another syndicated show Keyes was not in the mood for moderating his comments. "If my daughter were a lesbian, I would tell her she was committing a sin and should pray about it," he said.

The interviewer then said: "I don't think Dick Cheney would like to hear that about his daughter." To which Keyes shot back: "Dick Cheney may or many not like to hear the truth, but it can be spoken."

In another interview Keyes said that: "I have said that if you are actively engaging in homosexual relations, those relations are about selfish hedonism."

"If my daughter were a lesbian, I'd look at her and say, `That is a relationship that is based on selfish hedonism.' I would also tell my daughter that it's a sin, and she needs to pray to the Lord God to help her to deal with that sin."

"Alan Keyes may be nutty and kooky but he represents many of the leaders in the Republican Party and the minions who follow him," Signorile told 365Gay.com.

"At least he's being honest at a time when George W. Bush and the RNC are trying put on a mask of moderation and compassion," Signorile said.

“In a political career defined by failures, this is a new low for Alan Keyes,” said Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director Patrick Guerriero. “Attacking politician’s children is beyond the pale, even for an extremist like Alan Keyes.”

“Alan Keyes is good at two things-losing elections and dividing Americans,” continued Guerriero.

You may not agree with him, but that doesn't make him nutty and kooky.

There are fairly legitimate religious (and other) reasons that some people are morally opposed to homosexuality. Alan Keyes happens to be one of them. I can always appreciate a person that is unafraid to say what's on their mind.

The above poster has said plenty of things that I might call nutty or kooky;)

This is what I think is funny about people..they can't take it when a politician actually says what he believes the truth to be..regardless of if its popular or not..

It depends on whether or not what the politican is saying is offensive or not... to latch onto a current favourite of some of the RNC folks now; Churchill spoke his mind and stated what he believed to be the truth, but sometimes even he admitted what he said was offensive or wrong at the time. Further keep in mind some truely horrible politicians have said what the believe in and what they believe to be the truth... that alone doesn't make them better people.

So is the problem that he mentioned Cheney's daughter or that he disagrees with homosexuality?
