Maaan....
I missed the Queen Latifah Interview. I was sooo looking forward to it. I like TV One. I don't watch that other channel any more. :)

I'm gonna keep looking for the Queen Latifah interview. Just the previews alone made the interview look very interesting.
What is gonna keep me hooked on TVOne is "Bid Whist Party Throwdown". I hope they do more than one episode. If you didn't see all two hours, you missed a good thing. First, I'm proud that they did an original program. (Yes, they are piggybacking off the Poker craze, but why can't there be a Bid Whist craze getting started?) Reruns are cool, but I love them for showing A-A programming...not just videos. Secondly, this program could connect young and old viewers. There are plenty of "seasoned" people who might have just enjoyed watching the show and listening to some good trash talking. But it was excellent for young folks who think that Spades is the end all, be all. Like Rashan Ali said, Bid Whist (but ya mama call it Bid Wiz) is like Spades on a college level. It was great for them to explain it. If viewers paid attention and gave it a try, then folks could even start trying to bid. Sorry that this post is so long, but this is kinda near to my heart. I just wish that more people my age would open up to Bid Wiz. It's way too much fun. :D |

It was cute how they were commentating the game, like they do for the World Series of Poker. |

I missed the Bid Whist episode but I'm going to set my TiVO to cathc it the next time it comes on. I can really only play when I go home for Thanksgiving. No one else I know plays. They are like what's that? I have to play refresher hands before I get good and going at Thanksgiving and that sucks. I too, wish more young people played Bid Whist so I could come with my A-game at Turkey time. |

I'm soooo late on this. But I have been hearing commercials about this non-stop on the radio. I haven't had a chance to check it out though. Sounds interesting. I wonder why the emphasis on "African American adults"?

I wish they would target it to "African Americans that want to have a good time". |

I recenlty moved, and started getting TV One..... So far the programing is cool. My biggest problem is that they don't provide listing to comcast, so I can't set reminders for upcoming shows that I want to see, or read descriptions of what's on. I realize that for many years I just decided what to watch based on wether it seemed interesting. But now that I have digital cable, I read the description of everythign but the news!

How did I miss this thread?
I LOOOOOOVE TV ONE!!!!!!!!!!! On weekday mornings, I like to watch reruns of "Starting Over." I also like to watch NY Undercover and Boston Public whenever I can catch them. G. Garvin and Patti's shows are the bomb!!!!!!!!! :D

I can't TV One in my area but I did see it one time when I went to a family member's house. It look OK.....I would like to have it in Glen Burnie, MD. BET is getting a bit too video oriented....How many times must I watch that Laffy Taffy song. Give a brother a break.

Hello all,
I like TV One, but i'm personally glad it counts as basic cable (where i live). I wouldn't pay for it to be a premium channel. It's cute enough, but no real substance. The only original programming they have that I like is "Singletary Says." The host also writes a financial advice column for the washington post and i think has appeared in essence or somewhere a couple of times. |
TV One/WB deal (BV)
TV One recently announced a comprehensive, multi-year programming agreement with Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution to air popular movies and series -- including staples such as 'Martin' and 'Living Single.' One unique facet of the deal include the rights to air popular sitcoms 'All Of Us,' and 'Eve,' which are currently airing on network television (UPN), and the nationally syndicated variety show 'Showtime at the Apollo.' Other shows slated to air on the two-year old network include 'Wanda At Large,' 'The Parent Hood,' 'All About the Andersons,' 'Fastlane' and 'A Man Called Hawk.' Movies will include classics such as 'The Color Purple,' 'Malcolm X,' 'New Jack City,' 'Purple Rain,' 'Sparkle,' 'Superfly,' 'Shaft,' 'Lean on Me,' 'Krush Groove' and 'Cabin in the Sky.' "We're confident that the addition of feature films, the premieres of off-network comedies, the licensing of proven hits and the renewal of successful staples of their already strong line-up will provide a nice boost to their schedule," said Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution President Eric Frankel. The new line-up of shows will start its initial roll-out this fall.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I enjoy TVOne and I get it through DirecTV. I like the reruns of NY Undercover, Boston Public, 227, etc. I also like Get The Hookup (whenever I remember it's on) I think with this news BET's going to be in trouble....:o |
