You like what you like, you know? Some people listen to electronica to sleep to, some for dancing. My fave dj's will always be house dj's from Chicago. Most of their stuff sounds extremely dated now but I really don't care because its better to dance to than anything I've heard :)

It's a problem when someone stops innovating or doing something new and then it all sounds the same.

I don't think people realize how much break beats really plays apart in American pop music. Brittney Spears, Timberlake, Madonna, Janet Jackson and even Linkin Park have all had break beat mixes in their music. There are many more people who have it in their music but those are the ones right off the top of my head. And where did breaks orignate?? Floooooooorida. Florida is the only place where you'll find this type of music coming from. And it's everywhere, you just don't realize it. There is another genre that comes from California, west coast breaks. Go buy a Simply Jeff cd and you'll know exactly what it sounds like. Yet, it's really just a knock off of Florida Breaks. Example: Simply Jeff has a song on one of his CDs called "Feel My Energy". The song was put out in like 96 but still blows a crowd up. The track was actually written by a close friend of mine who lived in G-ville when he made it and who's on the juice record label....his name is Mike B. If you're ever in Atlanta he now lives there and has a residency at the Velvet Room. My point is, Mike made the track while living in Gainseville...its total Florida Cheese and yet Simply Jeff's label put it on one of his CDs (I believe its the blue one).

Inform the rest of the United States? :D Girly, have you ever heard of the Winter Music Conference? Or the Ultra Music Festival? Both are known globally. Shit, even P-diddy, the Hilton sisters, Timberlake and Usher come to these events....which are held in Miami. There's a reason why both festivals originated in Florida and have been running strong for 6 years...and it aint because we have nice weather. ;) The festivals draw the worlds most talented artists and has surpassed even the Homelands and Creamfield parties of legend.

Of course I've heard of the Winter Music Conference. My best friend played there this past year (Trevor Lamont, see previous link for web site.)

And have I heard of that big drug fest/rave called Ultra? Of course I have! Every crackhead I know dreams of attending every year! And trust me, its because you have nice weather and drugs. I know its sad but its true, Ultra is a crackfest. And since they essentially happen at the same time it would be an easy choice for which one I'd attend-WMC!

And about my previous statement-all the people I personally know (that are just as knowledgeable about music as you or me) would say that the real shit is from Chicago! :D I guess its just a difference in opinions!

I definitely understand what you are saying but that music just really doesn't appeal to me. (Florida) breakbeats really isn't my thing and especially since its become more mainstream in the music of the popstars of today. Give me some Terry Mullan any day and I'll be much happier! :D

lmao!! :D Ultra just isnt for crackheads. There are many people who go there that arent on drugs....just as there are people who do drugs. If you want a crack fest...have you ever been to one of the Zen Festivals? I think you call Ultra a crackfest because you probably dont remember much from when you were there and all cracked out. ;)


As for Chicago...I put it like this. Chicago invented EDM, it was made globally known in the UK and Germany and then perfected in Florida. :D

I was joking...take it as that. ;) Lets just make clear, for the other people on this board, that we don't literally mean crack smoking junkies when we say crackheads. We mean people rollin, G'd up, high or on coke all weekend. But yea, I do agree with you....I'd much rather be at the Winter Music Conference than Ultra. When I was 18,19,20 yrs old Ultra was fine because it wasnt on as much of a massive scale...there's just too many damn ravers there for me these days unless I'm DJing at the event. When I first went it was just one big party on SoBe and now it's got over 60,000 people attending and is in Downtown Miami.
