If you have seen ALL the drama on here started by "innocent" questions like this and disagree, then fine.

But that hasn't been on your boards, has it? It is RARELY an Alpha question, it is almost always an AKA vs. DST question. The drama generally hasn't been in the Alpha forum. I dont know if you DO understand where I am coming from on this, even if you've been on GC has long as me. We are all so very tired of it. I have seen not only this site, but a couple of others in cyberspace turn into incredibly unpleasant places to be by instigators with "innocent" questions. They try it here and they don't start the Delta vs. AKA bickering that they want. They get a community instead.

I've been on GC since 2001, just like you. :)

It just seems SO much easier to ignore it if you have a problem with it.

I must co-sign on my soror's post. One reason why I love GC and have stayed is because we don't have a drama-filled theatre started up by instigators in the two main NPHC rooms I post in regularly.
There's a reason why the moderators decided to stanch membership discussions. I wish that nuevas would respect that instead of trying to do end-arounds.

Some people ignore, some people remark on the transparency of attempts at instigating and I might add, condescension.

Yall need to stop. Frost asked a simple question and wanted a simple answer. If you didn't want to answer, like myself, then dont. Some of yall kill me with your antagonistic ways on this board. Fakin like you're so active and you do so much service in the community. Trying to down someone for asking basic questions in the name of so called discretion. But some will be quick to discuss openly other issues that I considered totally inappropriate for a public forum (like the sisters debating whether or not a member should disassociate).

Look, pay your dues and get a life. If you have a post count in the thousands, that says a lot bit about your so called greek experience.

Well then GTHUOOH?????? You don't have to be here if we are "killing you". Who said anything about putting in hours of community service? Who said anything about not answering a question because of discretion? Who cares what you consider to be totally inappropriate? Again, if it's so inappropriate and it "kills" you why are YOU still here?

Practice what YOU preach and get a life.

Yes frost's question was a do around, but her initial post was never answered. I too cringe when people ask open ended questions like those, however what I try to do is simply answer the question.

One issue I am dealing with on another board is the pre-emptive strike. Trying to guess where a question will go before it's gone there. Many times we see the same question over and over. And when school starts in the fall ALL of our boards will be riddled with a new crop of membership questions. I

Greek Life is not the same as it was years ago. People and their access to the net has increased. Thereby opening up new avenues, as they perceive, to ask their questions whatever they may be. Many times we look at these questions and wonder why in the world didn't they go to someone they know. I don't even wonder about that. I either answer the question posed or keep it moving.

Again ladies I do understand your fervor but why would encourage/participate in any type of behavior in another NPHC forum that you don't want in your own?

ramrod 07-28-2004 10:10 PM

I come through occasionally just to see what people are talking about. I see these types of comments a lot. This is a public forum and a magnet for questions like the one Frost84 asked. The people who get upset the most probably just got down within the last year or two, which is hilarious in and of itself. After a while this type of thing doesn't bother you.

My thing is since we all know what type of questions will very likely be asked here either answer them or don't. Quite trying to blast people at any little chance you get.

who are you and who do you think you are to tell someone how to respond to someone's question?

To Ramrod and LBF...

...Kudos to you both.

Ramrod, I couldn't have said your points in you posts any better myself. Excellent observations and good points. Keep up the good work.

LBF, it seems that you are taking over my spot on GC as the Greek "voice of reason". If that is the case, it couldn't go to a better person. Excellent points also.

And this is coming from a Greekchat/Greeksource member who has been down since 1997 and has seen a LOT come and go.

I agree with the brothers on this thread...people do have a tendency to forget how it was when they were interested...and further, women have a tendency to get Catty really quick when we get annoyed...(myself included). Some of us take this high and mighty attitude like we're better than other folks cause we're a part of certain organizations...and other people want what we got. Some of this ferver dissipates with age in the org..and much of it dissipates (like in my case) when you re-organize your priorties in life and realize that if you're gonna be passionate and excited about anything..it should be Jesus...and when you come to the realization, it puts a lot of things in perspective.

So thanks to the brothers for coming in here and offering an eye opening perspective. We ALL need that sometime. ;)

It may be a public forum, but you would think if the person is interested in a certain organization, they would read the rules of the forum before posting questions. I can only speak to Alpha Kappa Alpha's forum. The moderators have rules against posting membership inquiries. I would think that people who are educated, or at the least, some type of home training, would follow rules.

Why is it hard for people to follow rules?
That's what got me heated.

So, who's starting the next thread....where's the love?

First Rainman, now Acedawg...dang!! Um, why do I NEVER want to hear Atomic Dog again? Do y'all EVER get tired of hearing that song?

No, we never ever get tired of it.

For real, for real.

That song gets me amped up.

Everytime.

Yeah, I noticed. LOL, it's cute though!

Regarding this topic...

Most of us are on more than one board. We all realize that every board has a different feel. Now, when comparing GC to others it's pretty tame. However, no board is without it's drama. These types of responses are not uncommon on other boards. I have seen 11 page threads clowning someone who asked a question. However, I think most people are a little put off when it happens here.
