If they did think that way several years ago, Delta Chi would not exist at Bowling Green. I just looked at your chapter's web site (nice job, btw) and you were colonized in the Fall of 98.

I am not against the thought of colonization, but why 6 chapters in 3 years with 2 chapters still colonies?

also it bugs me because the people on IFC before I got onto campus waived their right to approve new chapters and gave the power solely to greek affairs. The decision came from what I have heard was a very apathetic IFC.

Cant change the past though, so we have to fight on. Wow this post got really off topic, I didnt really mean to get into depth about what chapters were coming and my views on it. I was just curious which chapters had been there.

The French House was Alpha Gamma Delta. In the early 70s, the chapter voted to move over to the Conklin Residences. According to one of my fellow advisors (who was an active member in the chapter at the time and voted on the issue), they were the first sorority to move over there, so they thought it was a "big deal" to be part of what was known as the fraternity area.

(Of course, she also says if they had known then what they know now, they would have stayed in the French House. The trend at BGSU seems to be that the chapters with smaller residences - therefore, less pressure to live in house - have been doing better in recruitment over recent years.)

BTW - I know this thread is old, but I bumped it regarding the discussion of BGSU constructing a new Greek Village. It hasn't really gotten out of the planning stage (even 3 years after this thread was started), but there was a task force and those of you who were interested in reading the results can find them on the Greek affairs website (http://www.bgsu.edu/offices/sa/greekaffairs/index.html )

There were also concerns expressed in this thread about the rapid fraternity colonization. For those of you who might still be interested in the topic, the results of a Fall 2006 task force for fraternity expansion are also on the Greek Affairs website that I linked above.
