While my pastor has asked me & others to please dress casually to church, I just cannot bring myself to wear a t-shirt of any sort to a Sunday service. I've worn my pin, and a polo shirt with my letters, and have even written an article on being greek in the church.

For a more casual worship service, I'd consider it - but it would have to be a very casual event! At our yearly garage sale, there are a LOT of greek t-shirts!

Our chapter used to go to Sunday services once a term together, too, on the Sunday after Initiation, and of course, everyone wore her pin. I don't think they go to church after Initiation anymore, though.

thats funny because two of my very close friends that I attend church with (to those "Life Teen" Masses) are Greek. One is a Phi Delt and the other, a SigEp. I also saw a girl a few Sundays ago with a Delta Zeta shirt on.

That's why I can't understand why some people say that "churches are against greeks" either!

Tom maybe to YOU, church is passe but it isn't to me and to many others who are replying to this thread. I find the statement offensive as if you are saying that those of us who choose to ACT our beliefs by attending worship are wasting our time.

Would I wear letters? NO but I wouldn't wear jeans either. It has only been since I moved to Texas that I'd wear pants. To me it is showing respect that I dress up... or at least don't look like a barely rolled out of bed. No to be like an old fuddy-duddy, but church services is not the place to wear clubbing clothes (especially in Texas where the A/C is set for men in suits)

I haven't been to church in ages but not everyone totally dresses up. I have seen people there in jeans and tshirts but it is a church in upstate NY where people dress like that to go out to a nice restaurant, that's the lifestyle there.

Last time I went to a religious service was last fall when I went to a synagogue with my ex for his holiday. I dressed very conservatively for that, knee length skirt and tights and a 3/4 inch sleeve shirt.

When I was younger I could see wanting to wear my letters but now that I am older I would definately dress more conservatively.

Agreed. I dont go to church at all anymore unless its for a holiday. Its a sad thing, but it happens.

I went to a private Catholic school all through grade and high school. By HS a lot of things were being "pushed" on us in our religion classes and sadly most of my fellow classmate no longer attend church unless they come home to visit family.

I used to have to wear very formal clothes, but so many kids would come in sweats and all sorts of things that church is very informal anymore it seems. I guess it depends on the person and what the feel. If I were to go to mass, Id dress nicely and wear my pin.

I still believe, but I havent found a new church in our new neighborhood to join. I think when we do, I will possibly switch to Methodist, my hubbys religion, as since Ive been with him, Ive always loved what they stand for and believe, I want to learn more.......

well....yeah, I've done it. It was a practice/worship session though, not liturgical service.

I wouldnt wear letters to church because i think it would be too flashy since church is rather conservative, but i would wear anything written out like tees etc. i have lot of nice stuff written out.

other than that i wouldnt consider it a big issue of what i should wear to chruch.

Well for me its not really a big deal becuz i wear normal clothes to church and i only get all spiffy when i feel like it, but i have worn my letters to church b4 and no one says ne thing becuz its something im a part of. its no difirent from when i wear clothes with other logos as long as it dosent hav a vulgar meaning to it. It perfactly fine.

Wayyyyyy back when I was in school, each GLO had matching coats. They had quilted linings and were pretty much the only wintery/cool weather coats we had. We did wear our coats to church with our nicer clothing. So, you'd spot the purple Tri Sigma coats, the yellow AGD coats, the green Lambda Chi coats, etc.
