Re: Posts on GC that could reflect bad on us cuz our GLO is in our signature

We don't talk about things that happen on justintimberlakeishot.com, the Buffy message board or IM (or we shouldn't) on GC. I believe that it needs to go both ways. That board was created not only as a more controlled alternative to GC, but so we could discuss things privately among sorority women we didn't want viewable by everyone, like GC is. It's not a contest as to which is run the "right" way and I feel like that's what you want it to be. If you prefer it there, fine - but this ain't that. I was trying to figure out how to respond to this but I really dig the "I shouldn't even be posting this" response. Senusret, anyone who would send you a mean PM will have to tangle w/ your GC fan club. :) |

It wasn't that bad.....but clearly the signature hasn't changed. ;) |

Your current sig clearly speaks the truth. :D |

I personally think the worst reflection on a GLO comes not from opinions or admitting that sometimes you do "terrible" things like drink or swear or smoke or have sex for reasons other than procreation, but from people who can't spell. Seriously, members of GLOs are college-educated. It's you, not u. It's sorority, not soritry. It's because, not cuz. You (or your parents) spent a good hunk of money on getting that degree - show that you've deserved it. |

Now I had no idea that having your letters on a shot glass was a "no-no" so to speak.
Are you kidding me? That's one of the most jacked up things I've ever heard. Eventhough someone decides to join a GLO they are still allowed to be an individual. I've never heard of anyone having to sign their life and rights away when the decided to join. Call me crazy but I don't think our respective GLOs control the way we think (not yet anyway). Here's to ordering more shot glasses with my letters on them! |

Personally, I don't recall ever reading a post from a sister that would make me think to send her a PM to reprimand her. I think we all stress to PMNs during recruitment that they can be themselves in our org's, don't we? We can't possibly expect our members to conform to a perfect standard 100% of the time. We're only human, after all...except for Stepford Wife, of course. :p |

As long as you don't drink out of it or have a display for rush with shot glasses surrounding a bottle of Jack, it's a complete nonissue and I really wonder why anyone would try to turn it into one. |

If I want to do shots out of my kappa sig shot glasses and chase it with my kappa sig beer stein in public .. more power to me.
Honestly, Sheila, most of this censorship stuff applies only to you girls. The male fraternities are much less interested about micromanaging their members and not as likely to worry that a Risque story is going to cause the Downfall of Greekdom As We Know It. Quote:

I think it's important to watch what you say and carry yourself in a poised classy way as much as possible, not just because of an organization, but because you should have pride and respect for yourself and not act like a trashy-ass crack whore in public.
Now, of course we all say some off-color things from time to time, but I just think it's good to try to think before you speak and make sure you realize the implications of how things could taint people's opinion of you. Then, if your okay with being viewed like that - have at it and the rest of the world will just talk some s**t behind your back. I'm sure some people think badly of me, but I am who I am and carry myself in a way that I am comfortable with. Drinking in letters or letters on a shot glass though. Totally lame. I think it's fine to drink in letters and actually used to do it to make a statement. Is there something wrong with a sorority girl sitting down for a glass of wine with a friend? No GLO claims to not drink. Just don't be out of control in your letters, don't get wasted and act like a jackass. |
