I swear I posted this somewhere else, but...
1. Handlebar mustaches. Gangs of NY was my worst nightmare. 2. Identical twins dressed exactly alike. 3. Carnies. Really though. **shudders** |
I'm claustrophobic, but I really don't find that weird. I'm also terribly afraid of doctors and medical procedures. I'm like an incomplete hypochondriac -- I'll always diagnose myself with terrible things like tumors and West Nile, but I'm afraid to go to the doctor to find out for sure. I'd rather be blissfully ignorant until I keel over dead one day.

...when 50 people are in a close proximity of me I start to freak out. Funny, especially since I go out to parties and clubs with large crowds of people almost every weekend. Bugs scare the crap putta me Sharon Osbourne is scary |

Well that fear transferred to lakes. When I was probably 9 our neighbors took us on the lake and the bastard neighbor wanted me to get on the skidoo. He was OCD about me getting on that damn skidoo. I told him I would if he'd let his son go on with me (I thought he was so cool being 14...). He said yeah, and then when I got on, pushed me out by myself. Started the boat and it was the most terrifying 4 minutes of my life till he crossed the wake and tumped me over RIGHT BY THE DAM. It was the longest 30 seconds ever till they picked me up. I think I jumped straight from the water into the boat. I was convinved I was gonna get sucked in by the drain thing and end up in someones drinking water. My sister has since vehimently apologized for creating the phobia. The thought is enough to push me over the edge. Being all sucked up against the grill of the intake, not being able to get away. I think I need a paper bag.... |

Oh, I forgot... driving, and being next to a big truck really makes me nervous! But I know where that fear comes from... my senior year of H.S., when my family was taking a road trip so I could look at a college, we almost got nailed by a trucker who had either lost control or fallen asleep or something. He came flying straight across 4 lanes, heading straight for us as we were merging onto the interstate.

I'm scared of the dark. I cannot be a room that has no light coming into it whatsoever. I must be able to see some light of some kind whether it's through a crack in the door or the glow of an alarm clock. I'm not scared of monsters or anything. ;) I heard when I was little that if you stay in a dark room for too long that you could go blind. I've been frightened ever since. I am also scared of winding mountain roads that have no guardrails. If I'm traveling along the outer side of the road and there's only about a foot between the road and a huge drop-off I will freak out. Luckily, I live in Florida but when I was in Cali last Spring Break my friend drove me through the mountains. My hands were so sweaty and I had to close my eyes. |

And whats with the third rail ::shudders:: I also hate bridges. During a Little League game way back in the day, I stared at a tractor trailer half hanging off the Bayonne Bridge, cab side off of the bridge and have hated bridges ever since. Every time I think I'm over my fear, something else happens (comming back over the verrazzano, some old lady in a civic merged into my car, yeah...then there was the empty 5 gallon bottle of poland spring water that came off a truck and cracked my windshield). So now my list reads: 1. Punchy the Robot 2. Subway islands 3. Bridges |
I didn't think to mention that, but I too have an honest-to-goodness water phobia. Can't handle any body of water larger than a whirlpool without my heart pounding, getting faint, etc.
I don't know where it came from, but my mom has the same thing, so she probably transferred it to me somehow. I still don't know how to swim because of it - when my parents tried to put me in swimming classes as a kid I would just scream, continuously, until they took me away from the pool. |
