My dad was engaged to another woman when he met my mom. I'm not sure how they met -- they were both in college together after he came back from the Korean War.
They started dating, and he got the engagement ring back from the other woman and gave it to my mom! It's kinda' shocking when you learn your dad was a player. ;) They've been married for 47 years. |
I met my b/f at a Dallas Mavericks watching party. I was with a co-worker and her b/f. My co-worker was relatively new and this was my first time out with her and her group of friends. I was sitting at the end of the bar about to leave to meet up with some other friends when my (now) b/f walked up to me and said, well since no one has introduced me to you, I'll introduce myself.
I talked to him for a little bit (I was a bit tipsy). He then offered me his number and said for me to call him. I never called him b/c I'm not one to call guys first. My b/f sent a couple messages the following week to my co-worker to see what had happened to me. She was like you need to call her. He called that night and we talked for hours upon hours and it all happened from there. We broke up last July but have been back together since the end of March.:D |
Mr. AOII Advisor and I met at a festival in Atlanta. I had just had my heart broken by the ex and had gone with my girlfriends to just enjoy a nice day, have a few beers and forget about boys. But everytime I would go get a beer, this nice guy would try and talk to me and I would kind of blow him off and tell him that it was girls night. So, finally he asked if he could see me another night when it wasn't girls night. So, I gave him my number but really didn't think anything of it.
He called me on Monday and asked me out and I literally had something to do every night that week and that weekend(I am sure he thought I was making it up), so we had our first date that next Sunday, we went and had mexican and saw a movie and have been together ever since. It's not really romantic but it goes to show you that sometimes when you aren't even looking for someone is when they appear. Thank goodness for ex's that break your hearts because they enable you to finally meet the good guys sometimes! |
I met my boyfriend at Homecoming at the school he graduated from and where I went for two years. My sorority and his fraternity were competing to win Homecoming that year and we ended up beating them even though they were being really dickish and trying to cheat. As a way to remove some of the hostility, our chapters decided to go out to dinner together. About 50 of us ended up at a pizza place and I wanted to sit with one of my old housemates, and we ended up at a table with my now-boyfriend and this guy who I have ALWAYS detested. We talked through dinner (or really argued) about politics, because I was wearing a bunch of buttons from the election. I was incredibly not sober and was really rude, telling him that he was a mysogynist who misinterpreted the Bible, he called me a baby-killer, etc. We ended up going out to the bars together, staying up the whole night talking, then going to lunch the next day. We are the oddest matchup in history but 10 months later we're still together. :D
My parents met their sophomore year of high school in typing class and have been together ever since - they eloped after my mom finished college so she could go to Germany with my dad, who was in the Army. |
Mr. Xylo and I met in marching band (geeky, I know) when I was in 9th grade and he was in 8th. We started dating, became co-captains of the drumline, and the rest is history.
My parents met through my aunt. She had a huge crush on my dad (they were in a bowling league together) but he ended up liking my mom instead. |
My boyfriend and I met on a ten-day church retreat to Canada (our youth groups were sharing a bus to go to World Youth Day 2002 together)!
But um, I started dating another guy from the retreat first (a couple weeks after the retreat). I didn't date Mr. LB til a few months later, but we've now been together for over two and a half years! :D |
We met while growing up in the same small town. We actually "went out" to the movies with friends once while in the 7th/8th grades.
When I moved back after Ole Miss and working the campaign, we got back together and never have parted since. |
I met my boyfriend during our freshman year of college. It turns out he lived across the hall from my best friend (that really means guy I was totally digging on), but I never knew that. LOL.
His fraternity (TKE, of course) asked me to be their Homecoming Queen representative that year. I only knew 3 of the guys in their fraternity, but they were the 3 in charge of Homecoming. I was told that some guy named "Brad" was the Homecoming King and somehow every single one of my friends knew him but I couldn't figure out who he was. Finally, at the meeting the week before Homecoming I was properly introduced and I realized that he was some guy that I had thought was cute but needed a haircut. (He had it nice and short until this year when he decided to grow it back out again... GROSS!) We had to work together on various projects, especially for the LipSync competition (we came in 3rd). We found out that we had similar personalities and senses of humor, and we both loved soccer and sports in general. It was something that I never thought would have lasted very long because on the outside we're so different, but we've been dating for 4.5 years and it's going great! |
