So if people don't want to ride the bus, they have a huge stick up their ass? Very logical.
It would take me way longer to get to where I need to go by riding the bus. I can get there in 15-20 if I drive. It would take 45+ to take the bus. Some places have decent mass transit, others don't. |

Wow. Let's retract those claws and move on. Ouch.

Personally I prefer the smooth ride of a Hunter 28, but if I want a small ride I will sail on the 212 also.

It's $2.259 here where I live...around $2.359 in Chicago proper. Totally ridiculous. And it's not even Memorial Day weekend...the prices are going to get totally jacked up then, not to mention June 1 when we have to go to the summer blend of gas here in Chicago. Would not stun me to see prices get to close to $3/gallon!
I found a gas station the other day that was $1.939 and filled up there. It cost me $20 to fill my tank...and I only have a little Saturn! I am afraid of what it'll cost me on my next fillup. I'd love to take public transit...of course, in the suburb where I live, the only public transit we have is feeders that go to the train station (in the morning) and back from the train station (in the evening). It is great if you work in the city, but if you don't, you are SOL. |
I have a comfortable, compact car that suits me fine.
We live on a street where EVERYONE just HAD to buy a SUV. Like a stack of dominoes...Even their KIDS are driving SUVs! No offense to anyone here, but I'm smirking about it now. I have to fly to NY in the near future and it kind of bothers me that the airlines are getting hit so hard by the cost of fuel. Makes me wonder if they might be skimping elsewhere. |
Hey, the Prez in in your neck of the woods today isn't he? See if you can ask him to help out. (I'll bet that big armored car get great mileage) Just kidding. Feeling goofy today.
Go see "Wicked" while you're in NYC. |

This is gettin ridiculous. My area is not one where you can safely ride a bus (unsanitary and dangerous, and the damn Smart busses are known for getting into accidents), and it's not one where everything is biking/walking distance. |
Whatever you do, don't try to steal fuel
Those of you who are eating at the computer may want to pass this one by.
<slight hijak> No matter how tempting it may be to swipe gas w/ the prices sky-high, don't try it. Ask the guy in this story..... http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,120538,00.html This Doesn't Taste Like Diesel Fuel Friday, May 21, 2004 A Scottish thief tried to siphon off someone else's diesel fuel — but ended up getting a mouthful of raw sewage instead. </slight hijak> |
So do you all think this is the new standard cost for gas, or do you anticipate it going back down at some point?
|
The "experts" are predicting that it will get up to $3/gallon during the summer. They don't really say if it's going to stay there or not.

i say it's going to hit $3.00 . it could prolly go up higher. so many people use gasoline for cars, motorcycles, boats, planes. the prices are going to go up, people are going to bitch and moan, and those same people are still going to be driving around and getting gas because there's really no way around it. people say public transportation, but it takes forever, they're not safe, some cities/towns don't have a lot of routes/stops, and because of the gas prices, they're going to be uping the fee because THEY have to get gas also. so, tomorrow i'm jumping in my suv, driving to chevron and spending $40 on techron supreme gas (i'm not going to ruin the car with cheap gas and have to spend more money on fixing it)
