PnC - I totally undersrand your situation as I'm blinding white - especially my legs early in leg-baring season! However, after worrying about it, and dealing with sunless tanner that always ends up making brown blotches near my ankles, I've had a catharsis! (sp?)...

I'm white as a ghost and there's not much I can do about it. You don't like it? Well, stick it in you ear!!!!!!

It's very liberating! :D

I am wearing flip flops at work right now. Aren't you jealous? ;)

OK, someone needs to tell me/show me WTH Tevas are.

I am wearing my second new pair of cute sandals (bought off-season) today...these are comfy, the other ones HURT. 2 inch wedge heels, I don't know what I was thinking. Oh yeah! I was thinking they were only $8 marked down from $60! But guess what, they're going to Goodwill.

I am another pasty legged person and the variety of pantyhose shades for us has increased DRAMATICALLY since I first started wearing them...it used to be "nude" was "looks like 10 coats of self tanner", now it really is nude.

I am another pasty legged girl.

My problem is I hate wearing shorts. I don't wear them. I wear capris or t-length skirts or skirts that fall just below the knees.
I also don't wear tank tops.

So what ends up happening is that I have tanned feet, pasty legs and a farmers tan.

What I really should do is go tanning, but I can't justify spending money to tan when I tan so easily and I used to have a great tan.

I just don't go to the beach or wear the clothes I used to so I would have a great tan. I also work in an office, so I'm in doors, so that doesn't help either.

Tevas on guys are just grosssssssssssssss! I don't want to look at anyone's hairy feet; man, woman or child.

Lady Pi Phi 05-12-2004 11:52 AM

Tevas were cool...when I was 12.

Are people still wearing them??

Omigosh! With the exception of not wearing tanks (I wear them just about every day), you might be my soulmate! I'm a pasty girl who HATES shorts and LOVES tea length skirts. And thanks to the fact that I spend at least 40 hrs a week in the office, I rarely get outside.

Thanks Kathy! This is my new mantra:

I'm white as a ghost and there's not much I can do about it. You don't like it? Well, stick it in you ear!!!!!! :)

Sometimes I worry about stupid stuff.

xo_kathy 05-12-2004 02:45 PM

It's a long mantra, but you'll get used to it! :p

My roommate and I have the same brown sandles from MIA and we were talking about how our feet have to get used to them (they cut up the tops of our feet and then the skin becomes tough) at the beginning of every flip flop season. I really don't know why we ladies do it to ourselves. I guess it's because they are just so darn cute. ;) Reefs are my favorite because they are so comfy and if you have a brown pair and a black pair you can wear them with anything (except dressy stuff of course).

Does anyone have a favorite nail color/brand that they are using this season?

norcalchick 05-12-2004 10:25 PM

definitely a pedicure. but if you don't want to pay for it, there are things you can do yourself. buy those feet files, keep up the nail polish, and LOTION!!!!! nothing's grosser than seeing crusty feet.

the most comfy sandals EVER are mens black reef flip flops. i have a wider foot, so i don't like the women's flip flops. but the men's reefs are squishy. sooooo comfy!

And when everybody has else skin cancer from tanning all the time, you can sit back and be proud!

I'm a beach baby and we won't take our flipflops off until our toes are frozen. Hell, I even wear mine in the snow sometimes if I'm not going too far. Everyone at GMU used to look at me like I was nuts when I'd take a smoke break with flipflops on in December (I have quit smoking, though so my piggies don't get exposed to the elements that much anymore:)). Never has bothered me much. My feet refuse to be stuffed into closed-toe shoes, plain and simple. If you look under my wedding gown, I will be wearing flipflops :D

My most recent addition to my sandal collection:

These in blue/white. So comfortable!!!

I got another pair of Mudd sandals on sale at JCPenney the day I bought those. They're white strappy thongs with khaki weave-type accents. Really hard to picture, but totally cute. I also bought two pair of Westies and Nine & Co. kitten heel sandals at the Navy Exchange for $40 total. One pair is denim with a khaki "bow" and the others are blue/green/white strappy woven design. Really cute and really comfortable.
