I actually just found out this weekend that one of my friends from elementary school joined Alpha Sigma Tau at Eastern Illinois University. When I saw her I gave her a big hug & welcomed her to AST, I'm a member at UIC. She was shocked! It's so exciting. Plus, my brother just joined Chi Phi at his school, which also has an AST chapter, whom I will hopefully be joining when I transfer schools this fall.

I went to high school with one of my littles(same year), who had a little that went to our high school two years behind us who had a little who was also two years behind us. We have a little DeMatha lineage.

Small greek world. My spring semester freshman year i went down to the college park chapter for an initation party and i was being given a tour of the house by one brother. I ran into a guy i use to play baseball with and i was like what are you doing here and he said b/c phil another guy we use to played summer league with was a brother. i was like phil the guy that just showed me around the house was first base phil. We completely didn't reconize each other but it was cool because after that whenever i wanted to see how another chapter did something i asked phil and he always invited me down for initation and different event.

None of my close friends in HS went greek, but I know of a few other people who went DG, ADPi, SK, and DDD at UT Knoxville and SK at UT Chatt.

Also, the summer of my Junior year, I was on a mission trip with my church and a girl I had been friends with who was three years younger than me announced that she was going to my university. I was all prepped to tell her to rush SK but I was a Rho Chi that year!! She did go through rush and long story short, she became my little sis and was a bridesmaid in my wedding.
:D

When I went through recruitment last fall, I spent a lot of time getting to know the sisters, and didn't really pay much attention to the other PNMs, so I was really surprised on bid night to see FIVE  other girls that had gone to my highschool! Two were my age, and the other three a grade younger...I was nervous about how it would work out, since we all had hung out with different groups, and were different people in high school, but its actually been a lot of fun, and I'm really happy to call all of them my sisters. :)

A girl who graduated a year after me is a Gamma Phi at the UW, I knew her through sports and her older brother was my lab partner in AP Physics. There are quite a few other Greeks, but that's for another thread that we already have. :D

since i have been on facebook alot more lately and through friend requests, i found out that our class valadictorian is an SAE.

others that i know so far include...

Absolutely no other girls from my HS are DG's. :( The "popular" sororities in my hometown area include Zeta (every campus near me has a ZTA chapter), Tri-Delt, ADPi, and Phi Mu (those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head). That's part of the reason I want more Georgia DG chapters! I love my sisterhood and I want to share the love!

I haven't stayed in touch with many people from my graduating class (and there were only 40 of us!), but via Facebook I found out that one of my classmates, as well as a girl I used to play with when were were really little, are KKGs at Babson! That was kind of exciting :)

From my high school and church, I also know:
- A Phi Sigma Kappa at MIT
- A DG at Roanoke
- An AOPi at Elon

My daughter's Page School Class had 68 kids. Of the 68, 4 female Pages pledged Pi Beta Phi at 4 different colleges across the country.

My D's chapter has pledged at least 3 House Pages and 2 Senate Pages within the last decade .

I advised the Babson Kappas when we were stationed in Boston. Nice, nice girls!

I went to an all girls high school, so you would think I would know many girls who joined sororities, but there wasn't too many.

No AXiDs :( But I could think of 15 girls that I graduated with who joined sororities...there may be a few more...

1 Alpha Epsilon Phi at Iowa
1 Alpha Phi at SIUE
2 Alpha Omircon Pis (1 at NIU, one at Michigan State)
1 Chi Omega at Carthage
2 Delta Gammas (twins!) at NIU
1 Delta Phi Epsilon at UIC
1 Delta Zeta at NIU
1 Gamma Phi Beta at UW-Milwaukee
2 Kappa Alpha Thetas at UIUC
1 Pi Beta Phi at UIUC
1 Zeta Tau Alpha at Iowa

Another girl I graduated with pledged Sigma Sigma Sigma at WIU, but then depledged.

FSUZeta 06-07-2009 08:20 PM

after i pledged, one of my heart sisters(temporary big sisters) was a girl who had been a senior when i was a freshman in h.s., and whose family had a home the street behind my family's home-i had not even realized that she was at fl. state. a girl one year behind me in h.s. pledged zeta at u of florida, and i found out when i saw her over christmas break-she was wearing her pledge pin(that is back in the days when pledgeships lasted an entire semester). her family lived down the street from mine.
