Intense1920...YOU KNOW HIM!!

Girl, you've seen him too?? Or you've just heard??!!

To co-sign with what my Soror said....As far as ZETA goes....NO ONE, I mean NO ONE wears ANYTHING with letters Z PHI B on it unless you are a member. Unless it's a D9 shirt (which I have seen).

Sorors,, how do you feel about other Sorors wearing Sigma shirts and vice versa. I met a Soror once and she told me that where she was from it was normal for frat/soror to wear each other's shirts. I was apalled! So was my boyfriend (now ex) at the time (who is a Sigma and checked her quickly!!) I mean it was a Sigma shirt all the way!

It is ok to wear screen print though. We wear AXO- XYZ mixer/homecoming/etc shirts all the time. I have Sigma Chi derby days shirts that have the letters on it, a phi tau mixer shirt and a phi kappa sigma homecoming shirt.

See, that's amazing, because with BGLO's, it is unheard of for you to bewearing someone else's letters, fraternity, sorority, whatever.

It's looked at as disrespectful if you did not earn your way into that particular org and are wearing it's letters.

As far as that is concerned, I would not wear a Sigma's shirt because I didn't pledge Phi Beta Sigma.

(any further convo on this should be taken care of on the ZPhiB board!) ;)

I got the numerous emails. LOL. Hopefully I will never see him.

As for wearing Sigma nalia naw we don't do that around here. The closest you may see is a ZPBS shirt. I want one of those actually.

its considered disrespectful if its stiched on letters, but its common to see screenprint. Now that I think of it, I actually have other shirts besides fraternities. The SDT yougurt-a-thon has all our letters on it. I've seen shirts from other schools that have a Greek week with the letters of all the participating orgs on it.

its acceptable if its screenprint, for NPC.

I don't think a nonmember is going to get that you see it as disrespectful. They probably just thought it was cool to have something in those colors or with those symbols.

They don't get it, and they're not going to. If they did, they would have joined a group.

Educate your members not to give their shirts to a thrift store.

Intense1920 04-07-2004 01:44 PM

Anyone who has access to the internet can pick these things up from ebay. Better yet anyone can walk in a nalia store and buy it. That's the dilemma we all face.

It doesn't matter. That is unacceptable.

I love my father, but he won't wear my letters and I won't wear his (he's a member of Alpha Phi Alpha).

Exactly! Someone on GC said they would donate 'nalia to Goodwill.

Greek Week shirts are also acceptable.

Our philanthropy shirts tend to have all of the participating fraternity letters on the back as well. I have also seen sororities give their coaches "lettered" shirts for that particular philanthropy. (Mainly sorority superbowl.) But stitched letters... like the fabric and embroidery letters are reserved for members and sweethearts... and actually one of our girls got pinned by a fraternity member and she started wearing his letters. That i wasn't sure of but whatever works i guess.

At the same time... I wouldn't give my mom a set of letters to wear...unless "mom" was written on it somewhere. I give her little things like mugs and whatnot.

What's funny about educating your members? Being Greek and the meaning of Greek letters to Greek members isn't something the non-Greek community cares about or is even aware of.
