Phi Tau is a fraternity, not a sorority....

Fraternities and sororities are under different rules. It is easier for fraternities to set up shop in most campuses then sororities.

Pi Beta Phi has no colonies at this time; our last two installations were at Colorado Epsilon (University of Colorado-Colorado Springs) and California Nu (Loyola Marymount College), both in 2003.

We will be colonizing at North Carolina State University in the fall.

WOW...UCCS has a greek system now?

Went there my freshman year...no dorms, no greeks, no social life at all. Course, that was almost (GASP) 19 years ago!

Nice to see them getting some greeks. And dorms. Nice campus...GREAT location except for the winter (the only roads to get UP to campus are very steep, and get very icy during snow storms).

Acacia Fraternity's most recent colonies are at the University of Texas at Austin (Hook 'Em Horns!) and Texas A&M University.

Our other colonies are at Northwestern Oklahoma State, Syracuse, Bloomsburg, and East Stroudsburg.

Oops!

Add Mizzou to that list of Acacia colonies!

we actually chose to NOT become national.

That whole "going national" drama with us was almost 10 years ago.

And NPC and IFC work differently. IFC actually just had about 2 fraternities in recent years, drop... so they can afford to have another one.

Yes... Pi Phi is the first NPC sorority there. There was a local group started in the late 90s that was selected to be a new Pi Phi chapter. I think they were founded with the intent to go national at some point. I don't know if they have fraternities at all.

I think it will be good for the campus.

Not a COLONY, but still... I heard rumors (just rumors) that Theta Delta Chi is going to be re-recognized by UNCG really soon....

MysticCat 04-20-2004 09:52 AM

Last numbers I saw (as of January 2004), we had 14 colonies:

Alpha Sigma (Butler University)
Theta Gamma (Fort Valley State University)
Iota Eta (Central State University)
Mu Beta (Winston-Salem State University)
Pi Chi (Texas A&M University - Kingsville)
Alabama Gamma (University of North Alabama)
Florida Zeta (University of Tampa)
Georgia Gamma (Albany State University)
Louisiana Gamma (University of New Orleans)
Mississippi Alpha (Jackson State University)
South Carolina Alpha (Lander University)
Tennessee Beta (Lee University)
Virginia Delta (Norfolk State University)
West Virginia Beta (Alderson-Broaddus College)

The Greek letter names of the first 5 indicate that they are recharterings. The State/Greek-letter combination of the names of the remaining 9 indicate that they will be new charters.
