Quite right, AEPhi was a sorority from the start.

Founders' Day = October 24.

Thanks Abbey! I thought that's what it was, and then checking the international website I couldn't find it stated plainly like that *anywhere*, so I knew another sister would come across this thread and correct me if I was wrong! :)

Founder's Day: May 15 :) (less than two months from now until we're 153!!! :D)

October must've been a good month, 'cause that's when we were founded too. :)

Founded at Howard University in 1913 by 22 DEDICATED and DETERMINED women. We are an international sorority of over 900 chapters and 200,000 plus members.



@ starang, you know we stretch incorporated when need be but for the purposes of this dicussion I'll leave it simple.

So, question.....

If so many (looks like waaay more then half) "Soroities" are actually Women's Fraternities....how come it's called Soroity Recruitment? Shouldn't it be "Women's Greek Recruitment"? Ok....now I'm just being silly.... I know the main reason is so it's distinguished from Men's Recuitment...but still...anyone have any beter reasons why???

Because Joe and Jane Shmo on the street think of sororities when they think of women's Greek groups. "Sorority" is a good example of a created word that has stayed around. :)

Well Alpha Phi Omega was founded in 1925 by 14 Men. We didn't go co-ed until 1976. Some chapters are still all male though. Either way, we are still a fraternity.

We are Tau Delta Sorority.
