I couldn't agree with you more!!! My mother relates that in 1959 when my parents married, her new mother-in-law sat her down and informed her that should they have daughters, my mother better be "damned sure to tell her the complete facts of life OR she [my grandmother] would EARLY ON" My mother was floored at this directive. Apparently, in 1925 my grandmother knew nothing, she was 19, pregnant, not really sure HOW she got pregnant and had no idea how babies were born. Her mother-in-law had to tell her AFTER she and my grandfather were married. My grandmother said she sat at the kitchen table saying 'omigod, no, no". My grandmother swore THAT would never happen to any female she loved. She became a BIG supporter of sex education, planned parenthood and speaking out about issues of human sexuality.

Not to knock anyone but how in the hell do you not know where babies come from?!? When I was in elementary school, everyone knew.

Yeah, by the time we were old enough to date, we were sick of the sexual repression. I told the kids in my elementary school in fourth grade and it caused quite a big uproar. Why do you think it took me so long to come back to a Catholic school? ;)

Anyone remember that movie "Bushwacked" with Daniel Stern -- where he takes the kids camping, and uses Barbie and Ken to demonstrate. Afterward he says "and then Ken smokes a cigarette and goes to sleep" and all the kids were wide-eyed and open mouthed. Too funny!

No, Rudey, I seriously did not know where babies came from. Yes, I understood the semantics of it a little better AFTER the class in 6th grade (which was elementary school for us), but I missed out on all the other important stuff that my parents should have been responsible enough to tell me.

I didn't KNOW how EXACTLY one got pregnant until I was like 11 years old. I knew how babies were made biologically, but I didn't really understand sex. Back then, I got really uncomfortable even watching kissing scenes on TV.

I don't think it should come from the parents. Honestly kids talk. Stuff like this spreads like none other. And at some point, being a boy you have to find porn so you see it actually happen.
