Here Ye....Here Ye.....
For those of you that have been watching this thread and are wondering what's all the discussion about (ie. Kellie's low self esteem, Beyonce's bad perm & tight clothes and Michelle's "off the hook" ex-group) *******CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF*********** Tonight (5-8-01) on MTV starting at 6:00pm (central) time, the Destiny's Child interview will be airing again followed by Beyonce's film debut "Carman" |
Ladies,
It is soooo funny how everyone is so envious of these ladies. I know it's your own personal opinion but it is a trip. So much that they previously had a 100+ thread of one member and now a 30+ thread on the group. Really y'all need to stop hatin' on these very talented young BLACK women. And how many of overweight women on here (whether it is 15 pounds or 50 pounds) have responded to "Beyonces' weight problem". Come on now, she isn't the least overweight. TRUE, she should not have had on the pants she had on on MTV but still. Somebody, somewhere likes their music because of their current status in the business. While some of you are putting down their album and trying to figure out how you are going to pay this bill and that bill Destiny's Child is living large and selling millions of albums. MY OPINION, JUST LIKE YOURS. Please don't bite my head off (at once). (for the record, YES, I am a DC fan 100% - I know I know, I should have responded to a negative thread about them right but this topic isn't named like the other one this one is just about the group) Tiera [This message has been edited by PrettyLadyT (edited May 08, 2001).] |

Hello. Just to add on to the question about the group's education. I know they received tutoring, but did Beyonce and Kelly even earn their H.S. diplomas? I am asking because I notice when most teen stars graduate, like Monica for instance who was tutored by the same people or at the same school as Beyonce and Kelly, their is some mention of it somewhere in the media. There was a story on Monica's graduation in Jet Magazine. Just curious

PrettyLady,
I think the posts about DC are not a means of hatin', but instead summarizing that since these are YOUNG, BLACK, TALENTED, FEMALES, then they should carry themselves as such. IMO, because I want Beyonce to cover up her @ss and speak with some sense, doesn't mean I'm hatin, nor does it, by far mean I envy her. Anyone can walk around half dressed and spew ignorant verse and get paid for it, just look at Lil' Kim (sorry, I digress). Anyhoo, if those women were in our respective Sororities, we'd be proud, but I still think we would suggest that they wear more appropriate clothing. Not too long ago, my Soror Aretha Franklin showed out on VH-1. And although I have mad love for her talent, her wardrobe was out of left field. I can understand you like the group, but they are in the spotlight, and as such, subject THEMSELVES to criticism, constructive or not. Just my .13 cents. |
I think what ADDS to the criticism is the way their "business" dealings, if you will have been handled. The drama, etc. of the line-up changes. What really happened with the former members and all of the other MAYHEIM we have seen. So, yes, just like "we" talked about Michel Jackson and his people back in the day, Madonna, etc. Beyonce' and 'nem are the latest target. Who knows who will be next?
PrettyladyT, I bet if it were an artist you didn't like, you'd be on the bandwagon of "hatin" "dissin" and everything else. If you can't take it, skip this thread. Yes, you can have your say, but in this case, you're probably in the minority. So, what's the point? |
Well I like DC. I think they all are talented singers. I have the first 2 CDs. I highly enjoyed both of them.
However, just like some others were saying, I think it's awful they way the conduct themselves in the public eye. I watch them in interviews just hoping that Kelly and Michelle (especially Michelle) will say SOMETHING! I just feel so bad for her! That's why I was wondering if she gets to sing a WHOLE verse on any of their songs on the new CD b/c she doesn't say a word hardly in interviews. It's like she was told not to or something. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif That's sad to me. Then when you look at other, more cohesive groups, you will notice that ALL the members get a say when interviewed or what have you. I think at this point (and probably before...I just haven't noticed until now), the media focuses their attention on Beyonce. They ask her most of the questions. Now, when you see other groups being interviewed, they try to rotate amongst all the members. Or questions get asked in general and they all put their two cents in. I remember seeing a Backstreet Boy interview and I remember the reporter asking questions and they would all ask each other "hey, what do you think about that". I thought that was cool. They made sure everyone speaks in interviews. You NEVER see Beyonce saying "what do you guys think about that" or "do one of you guys wanna answer that". I've seen that done in a lot of other groups and it doesn't happen w/ DC (unless I missed something). It's sad, I tell ya. Just sad. |
Hey Now...
Pretty Lady, In true sisterfriend spirit I felt compelled to respond to you post because YES, it was ME that started this thread. I honestly respect your opinion, but I must clairify one thing... Disappointed... YES...Hating...NO I AM FROM HOUSTON-I have TRIED to support Destiny's Child since DAY 1, back in the day when they were performing at the Astrodome. In my opinion the first two albums were "alright" but this one is NOT.. I call it like I see it, Destiny's Child (Beyonce & her back-up singers) are not immune to criticizm. When you "blow up" as they have, you are prone to "scrutiny" At this level in their career they should be "on point" My Opinion...they are NOT. I don't blame you for sticking-up for a group that you support 100%, if someone started a thread "trashing" My Group: "Earth Wind & Fire" I'd ask the moderator to "shut it down" **smile** We CAN AGREE do DISAGREE! The one thing that I am against is the unequality in this group. Beyonce may be the lead singer, but if there are two or more in the music industry, that is considered a BAND, GROUP , or DUO. Beyonce is not the only member of DC so therefore she should acknowledge her counterparts as well. I think that treating Michelle and Kelly the way she does is a form of hating on HER part, because they aren't allowed to shine and to show what they can really do, because Beyonce is the so-called "star" of the group http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif Why do you think Kelly and Michelle are stuck with the darker hair pieces, while Beyonce wears the blond/light brown hair pieces? Because the eyes are drawn to lighter colors! Y (A lil inside info from a sista that knows how the biz works...) You shouldn't hinder the actions and ways of others to make yourself stand out-we all know that the girl can sing, but dang, let the other group members have their chance to show us what they can do!! I don't care if her father is the manager & mother their stylist-DC is not just about her! I also think that Michelle/Tenetria has a prettier singing voice, but that is another topic... Here is my question for all of us that have posted on one of the Beyonce and children boards to think about: if Beyonce would've came out as a solo artist, would she have been successful? ------------------ "Mind ya own, stay true to ya own, be ya own." I only caught the ending...somewhere around the time when she convinced Her man to run away with her......
I actually thought it wasn't all that bad. Beyonce is so dramatic on stage she didn't have much of a problem playing the "Stank H%*" role. http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/otn/funny/browsmiley.gif I enjoyed the parts I did see. I'll catch one of the thousand re-runs they'll show to see the rest. What did you guys think? |
