I didn't even know it was legal to marry at 17. I thought you had to be 18.

Solange Knowles gets married!

Excuse AKA2D, I couldn't find this story in an existing thread. I'm a man,and chances are (you sistas who are always on top of things) and have already posted this story. We men can't find a needle in a haystack! But here goes:

Beyonce's 17-Year-Old Sister Weds
(AP, 03/01/2004 3:49 PM)

Beyonce's little sister is now a married woman. Solange Knowles , 17, wed Daniel Smith in a ceremony in the Bahamas over the weekend, according to her record company, Columbia Records. Beyonce, her parents, Mathew and Tina Knowles, and Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland were in attendance.

"I am excited about this new phase in my life," Solange said Monday in a statement. "I am very happy and feel truly blessed to have the unconditional love and support of my parents and my entire family."

Solange released her debut CD, "Solo Star," last year. She'll make her feature film debut in "Johnson Family Vacation," due out later this year, her record label said.

Smith, a college football player, and Solange are natives of Houston

What y'all think? Did she get knocked up? I don't see Matthew and Tina being cool with her just getting married at 17.

I think you can get married younger than 18 IF your parents agree and sign a consent form. However, I think this also varies from location to location.

ummm...so Nino Brown became Pookie and now frequents crack houses leaving children in his wake? okay, i know ANYTHING is possible but still:rolleyes:

LOL!!!

So, he's on the run? Wasn't he in that movie US Marshalls on the run? Hmph... *smh* I find it hard to believe that three years ago Wesley was crankin' with a crack hoe. I find that d@mn hard to believe. Then again, if Winona can shoplift, anything is possible.

I'll go ahead and put a stereotype out there. I've never seen an Asian crack hoe.

Dick Clark Sued for Age Discrimination
AP - 1 hour, 9 minutes ago
A 76-year-old game show producer sued Dick Clark Monday, alleging the 74-year-old Clark called him a "dinosaur" and refused to hire him because of his age.

Ralph Andrews, who produced the 1960s and '70s game shows "It Takes Two," "By the Numbers" and "You Don't Say," filed the suit in Superior Court.

Andrews' attorney, Phillip R. Maltin, said Clark's actions violate the Fair Employment and Housing Act, which makes it illegal for an employer "to discriminate against a person who applies for a position based upon that person's age."

The suit also names Dick Clark Productions and one of its owners, Mosaic Media Group, and seeks general and punitive damages.

Paul Shefrin, a spokesman for Dick Clark Productions, said the company does not comment on pending litigation. A message left after business hours for Mosaic Media Group was not immediately returned.

In the complaint, Andrews says he spoke off and on for more than a year with Clark and other executives about joining the company and was told he would be considered for any openings.

But when he wrote Clark to say he was interested in available positions, Clark wrote back, allegedly turning Andrews down because of his age.

"I have great respect and admiration for your accomplishments, and wish you success in your desire to 'get back to work," Clark's letter read, according to the suit.

"(But) the last development guy we hired was 27 years old. Another person who is joining our staff next week is 30. People our age are considered dinosaurs! The business is being run by 'The Next Generation.'"

Clark added, "On a brighter note, Ralph, please know that if any project comes up where we could use your experienced hands, I wouldn't hesitate to call you."

Andrews told The Associated Press he has known Clark for 40 years and hired him on several game shows, including a brief 1997 revival of "It Takes Two."

She is "cullud." Her name is Lanise Pettis.
:p
Here's a New York Post story:

March 1, 2004 -- Wesley Snipes, who played an escaped convict in the "Fugitive" sequel, is now a real-life wanted man.
A Manhattan Family Court judge has issued an arrest warrant for the tough-talking 43-year-old action star after Snipes twice failed to submit to a paternity test requested by an Indiana woman who thinks he fathered her 3-year-old son.

The "U.S. Marshals" and "Blade" star has been wanted since July 25, when the judge issued the warrant and set bail at $250,000.

The woman, Lanise Pettis, is a former cocaine addict and prostitute who claims the child was conceived when she had sex with Snipes in a Chicago crack house in 2000.

The 32-year-old welfare mom (ST's comment -- why is this necessary?) says she's known Snipes "all my life," but the Bronx-reared actor has denied he's the father of little Israel Pettis, 3.

"I don't think he might be the father because he's refused the test," Pettis said in an exclusive interview with The Post. "It's because he and I had sexual activity."

She said that she can't understand why Snipes hasn't complied with the order.

"I would have thought that anyone who has denied it to the hilt would have done anything to clear his name."

Sources said that police would not actively pursue Snipes since the order is a bench warrant in a civil case.

Snipes' lawyer, David Matlof, did not return calls.

Solange Knowles, the younger sister of Beyonce Knowles, got married over the weekend, but you know this… The catch is we hear that she is quite pregnant and Daddy Mathew was quick to get that wedding poppin’ asap. Dude Daniel (the college football player/ high school love) didn’t have a choice and didn’t stand a chance.
