We invited all the greeks on our campus to join us in wearing badges or letters. We thought it was a great chance to show Greek spirit. Wear your badge, who cares, no one can tell you when you can't.
|
I am going to try to wear my badge to class but not to work since I work around food. As far as non-NPC people wearing their badge I agree with Little E. Wear your badge and if someone does tell you something tell them where they can go or something. But I honestly doubt someone's going to come up to you and go "hey your not in an NPC GLO so you shouldn't be wearing your badge". Just my 2 cents.

I was not involved, but I beleive SPURS is still at my University (Univ. of Puget Sound). I know for sure they were there in 1992.

Remember any org. can pretty much petition to join the NPC. It is up to the board to decided to let them in. NPC didn't start with 26, it grew to it and hopefully will continue to grow. Yes, it's NPC day but only because the conference chose to have a special day. However, my 2 cents is that if your IFC. NPHC, Local, Prof, Academic etc, feel more then free to wear your bagde March 1st. It's promoting your org., unity for greeks, and supports the NPC in their cause. Ok, back to work! :) |

I am sticking by my viewpoint, I think it's kind of weird to want to do it. The NPC experience is vastly different from other experiences. |
Bottom line: Anyone can wear their badge pretty much anytime they want, provided they follow the guidelines of their organization.
Therefore, if you want to wear it, no one can stop you! NPC ladies *ought* to wear it! |

Badge Day is for all Sorority women
This is directly off the NPC website.
The twenty-six member organizations of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) are celebrating International Badge Day, an annual event during which sorority women everywhere honor their Greek affiliations by wearing their badge or letters. International Badge Day is celebrated on March 1, 2004. International Badge Day is co-sponsored by the National Panhellenic Conference and Burr, Patterson and Auld Company, Inc. Note it says "an annual event during which sorority women everywhere honor their Greek affiliations by wearing their badge or letters". It is an International Badge Day. It doesn't say NPC Badge Day or NPC women only. Remember we are all in this together! |

I am off today, so I can't wear my badge to work. I will be putting it on as soon as I shower and change (just finished working out). Gonna go shopping and wear it!
(In my best RuPaul voice) Work that badge girls... |
I'm wearing my badge at work today!
Last year not one person said anything about my badge on Badge Day. So far only one of my co-workers has commented on it, and she knows about my sorority but can't remember its name.
For an understated and professional look, I'm wearing my plain gold '38 rescued badge instead of my own sapphire badge with chapter guard. :) |
Yes, SPURS is still active at UPS, but I've never seen anyone with a spur dangle attached to a sorority or fraternity pin. There are some people with Order of Omega guards.
|
Like I said, I'm not in an NPC sorority...but I'm proudly wearing my SAI badge today! :D
|
I've commented in our forum how, while visiting my mama in the hospital, a nurse turned out to also be an ADPi! :) It was kinda cool!
