That VP thing must be relatively new. We only had one VP, who both ran standards and oversaw the non-eboard committees (and who took over for the president if she couldn't fulfill her duties). Then again, maybe we only had one because our chapter was small.
I don't think most chapters have two - on national paperwork they only leave one space for VP. With the way our e-board is structured with the exception of the Recruitment Chair overseeing the Ass't Recruitment Chair none of the minor board positions are overseen directly by anyone but the VP Minor Board and since we have a sort of elaborate points system for Standards purposes its a lot of work when the positions are together.

President
Vice President (the one who takes over for the prez if necessary)
Recording Secretary
Treasurer
Person in charge of rituals
Person who plans rush
Person who guides the pledges

If you have more that have names you have to explain, add those too! :)

President
VP Chapter Relations and Standards
Recording Secretary (under VP Communications who sends stuff to nationals and press info, etc.)
VP Finance
Warden (under VP Fraternal Relations)
VP Recruitment
VP Education (used to be VP New Member Education, but now that we incorporate our NM's with our entire programming, they changed it to just VP Education -- gets VERY confusing with the person who does grades, etc...VP Scholarship)

Our VP CRS is the 2nd in command, and our VP Fraternal Relations is third. I was just trying to answer them in the order that you listed.

Oh - a funny about the "Warden" title...when I went through rush, the warden was named "Cynthia" -- well her nametag said:

Cynthia
Warden

So I thought for the LONGEST time that that was her full name - LOL!

Here is a list of our officers with "different" titles:

President = Worthy Master (WM)
VP = Worthy Marshall (WMa)
Secretary = Worthy Scribe (WSc)
Treasurer = Worthy Keeper of Exchueqer (WKE)
Person in charge of Ritual = WM; However the Worthy Usher (WU, our sergeant-at-arms) and Worthy Sentinel (WSe, our doorkeeper) are charged to help.
Person in charge of rush = Recruitment Officer
Person in charge of pledges = Membership Education Officer; informally known as pledge dad.

Other officers w/ "different" titles include our Worthy Chaplain (WC) and Worthy Keeper of Annals (WKA, historian).

The WM, WMa, WC, WKE, WKA, and WSc typically make up our Executive Committee, known affectionately (in my chapter at least) as the Top Six.

This is an interesting thread actually...

just last meeting one of the women commented on how she was surprised that the Delta Chi's call their officers A, B, C , etc... I told her that it was possible that full names are part of their ritual, but everyone knows that the A is the pres, B the Vice, etc....(well actually i guess not everyone knows :p)

And I like to see how the different groups use different names - like I think another group uses Archon, but its not for their president...

For Pi Beta Phi

Total list of Officers that all Pi Phi chapters have that vote on Exec:
Chapter President
VP Moral--Regular VP + Philanthropy + Standards
VP Social--New Member Educator
VP Moral--Academics + Cultural life
Treasurer
Secretary--Recording Secretary
Recruitment Chair--Plans Rush parties
Membership Chair--Runs voting and RIFs + Alumnae Relations
Panhellenic Delegate
Social Chair--Plans social events
House Manager (if applicable)

Other non-voting offices my chapter has (some of which can vary from chapter to chapter):
Risk Manager
Public Relations Chair
Efficiency Chair--similar to a corresponding secretary
Historian
Transition Officer--can be likened to a senior class president
Philanthropy Chair--we plan on adding this one

The two most unique aspects of Pi Phi are the division of recruitment duties to the Recruitment and Membership Chairs and the fact that there is no Ritual Chair (duties are kind of divided up among officers). Although I believe some chapters do have non-voting Archivists or Ritual Chairs.

Here's ours:

President
Executive Vice-President
Vice-President of Programming
Vice-President of Membership
Vice-President of Finance

President: just President :D

VP--well we have 2, but VP Membership takes over if the prez isn't there.

Recording Secretary--same
we also have Corresponding Secretary

Treasurer--same

person in charge of rituals: VP Ritual, although back in the day I've been told it was called the Chaplain.

Person who plans rush AND guides Members-in-Training (pledges): VP Membership.

Although, if there is a bigger MIT Class than usual, sometimes there'll be an assistant or something.

We also have a Songleader, Sargeant-at-Arms (parliamentarian), Editor (does the Yearbooks and sends news to our journal to be published).

jmbennett 01-20-2004 05:49 PM
